Backhoe hydraulic hose won't go on

Does anyone else have an issues connecting the hydraulic hoses to the rear of the tractor. The only way I can get mine on is to hit the end with a hammer until it releases enough pressure I can connect it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Before you disconnect it, shut the tractor off and wiggle the stick until all the pressure is off. The hoses should feel sloppy- loose before you disconnect them. Then disconnect the hoses and they should go back on easy when the time comes.

If you disconnected it WITHOUT getting all the pressure off, or did and still are having problems reconnecting, it may be due to thermal expansion of the hydraulic fluid.
You need to "relieve the pressure" in the lines. This can be done in various ways such as pressing the fitting against wood so it leaks a little, loosening the fitting so it leaks, or cooling it down.

For example I disconnected my backhoe on a cool spring day then tried to reconnect on a 99 degree summer day after the black hoses had been basking in the sun. The fluid had expanded. I grabbed a garden hose and hosed down the hydraulic hoses with cool water.

Before I hook the hoses up for my bh, I run all the control levers through their travel and make sure no cylinders are moving. This seems to balance any pressures and the QDs connect. When disconnecting the hoses, I do the same prior to disconnecting with the tractor not running and the remote still in the on position.
