Backhoe cad plans

Has anyone tried to build a backhoe using plans on cadplans.com. I have been looking for weeks for a light duty unit to dig out stumps drains etc. I do not believe I would use the attachment enough to justify spending $6000. They have a unit that weighs 400 pounds complete. The only down side is manual out riggers. The complete kit, metal and hydraulics is $1800.

I received the cad plan package yesterday for the 608 backhoe. I have not looked at the video, but the drawings appear to be very complete and simple. That simple comment will probably come back to haunt me.

I contacted John at Cad Plans and asked several questions. He was very helpful and answered all my questions at length. He also gave me several suggestions to make the job easier.

My buddy and I are in the final stages of getting an 821 in operation. The plans are great and John is a very helpful fellow.
I am sorting a few dozen photos and will post them in a "Projects" string as soon as we have a few holes dug.

Good luck. We have had a great time putting ours together.

My son-in-law and I used CadPlans to build this one. We did a bit of rearranging to suit our needs. It is a fun machine!

Great looking machine. Does the machine dig well in hard ground? What different size buckets did you build?

The last place we lived had very hard clay. Had to break it with skidsteer forks fist. The skid bucket wouldn't penetrate. But when I got near the house wall, I didn't want to go pokin' around with the big forks. That dirt-digger did a GREAT job! Pulled the hard stuff away from the wall and managed to break up a sizeable patch for the skid bucket to get in and do the heavy lifting. As for the buckets, we made three sizes. 6", 8" and 15".
