Hi Friends,
I am looking for a Kabota 4690 backhoe compatable digging bucket. The Kabota dealer is asking 500 bucks for a 12" wide bucket. I have a 16" wide bucket now, but I desire a smaller width like 9". I live where the hardpan is HARD at this time of year and my 16" won't dig in. I can dig through the top soil and when I hit the hardpan I can't dig much deeper, it just scrapes the ground and makes dirt crumbs. I even filled the trench with water and let it set for 24 hours and that didn't really help either.

So again I am looking for something that will fit my 4690 backhoe. Any links or or suggestions would be helpful.

I talked to a Kabota dealer today. Kabota makes a 10" bucket with 3 teeth. He said if I replace the stock flat teeth with rock teeth, round and pointy, this would probably do the trick. Only thing is the bucket is near 400 bucks without the teeth. The dirt out here is great in the spring time. Now the dirt is ROCK solid. I hope to find something cheaper than $400.

thanks

Here's probably right - we own a BL4690B with 12" and 16" buckets. I've never tried the 12" since we got it but I did rent a Kubota KX91-3 mini-excavator (a fairly powerful machine) with flat teeth on the buckets to do some fairly deep trenching ..... at two different points (at around 5' - 6') I thought I was hitting huge rocks - it sounded like I was scraping on concrete ...... turns out it was just very dry undisturbed naturally compacted clay soil. I just kept scraping until I got it the depth that I wanted .... but it sure was slow going.

Kubota backhoe buckets are expensive! I bought a 24" for my BL4690 last summer and it was $688! I can buy a 72" front light material bucket for the same money.

To Kubota's credit they are very well built as usual.

Yeah, 16" is too wide for most uses. I always use my 12-incher. And
Kubota wants way too much for their buckets.

I have an extra new 12" bucket for a Prairie Dog hoe (Woods 7500 clone),
but it may not fit your dipper stick. It has 4.15" ear spacing and uses
25mm pins. PM me if interested.

Since you have hard dirt, try this: Remove some of your
bucket teeth. Ideally reduce teeth to one if you have an
odd number.
