Backblades - JD vs others?

I'm looking to purchase a 6' BB for my JD990. Local dealer has quoted $509 for an RB1072 and $540 for an RB2072 (Frontier brands). I expect easy use situations pushing snow and moving topsoil / grading drive.

Any comments regarding price & performance of JD rear blades versus any other brands - Woods / BushHog / LandPride? Is it risky buying used blades (easily hidden problems)?

Frontier is a very good brand. It may seem expensive but it is worth it for the quality you are getting. I had a RB1084 I sold with one of my last compacts. It was awesome. A few weeks ago I needed a blade so I went to a farm supply and bought their "HD" 72" rear blade. After having to modify it greatly to fit a quick hitch, I all but had it destroyed leveling some rock on my driveway.

I am now looking to get a RB2084 (20 is more HD than 10)

I don't think it's real easy to hide mistakes with a blade. I hit the sidewalk with mine six years ago and it was quite noticeable.
Last weekend I looked at the Woods rear blades and the JD. Both were made well and I think either one of them would do a great job but the Frontier blade was in a different class as far as how they were built. I believe the price for the 7 ft Woods was around $650, didn't get a price on the Frontier but it was probably much more. If you're plowing on blacktop you will most likely want to invest in the shoes that fit on the bottom of the plow.
