Back up camera to watch front end loader bucket or forks?

My $50 camera setup (outlined in the other thread) is still going strong, both rear camera and bucket camera. I did upgrade my front camera mount to stronger magnets, since I accidentally shook it off once when clearing snow out of the bucket.

. . . ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL job on those gauges, . . just too perfect, I love them! You and Paul Short do some absolutely fabulous work, and I do mean fabulous, perfect, . . and thank you for sharing artisticly Beautiful work!!! . . very inspiring ! I bought a back-up camera unit for trucks and buses that had a 30 foot chord. So I originally mounted the cam just under the rear window of my John Deere cab and coiled the wire just inside. When cutting the lawn or doing some box-blade or grading work etc, I simply uncoil the wire and run it out to the furthest point of the implement I'm using where I have a small piece of angle aluminum "glued" to the implement and can slip the cam on and secure it with a rubber band while in use. Should have bought a "higher-quality" camera unit (if they come in higher quality?) Not too bad, as is). Then I acquired a set of QA forks for lifting my firewood pallets, but couldn't see them from the seat and when standing or raising slightly off the seat, the darned seat switch cut everything, I tried disconnecting it but it shut everything down. I CAN stand to see the fork tips as long as I push down hard enough on the seat with one hand, (which is damned awkward to say the least)! OK, I need a higher quality camera or possibly just a much larger screen, (monitor?) I'll try to get a 7 incher? Thus far I just used a foot long piece of lath, (1/2 by 2") and wired it temporarily to my grill gaurd and set the cam on top with elastic rubber bands and as there is lots of wire(cable) it was easy.
BUT, . . . . I'm not happy, with the quality of the camera/monitor results as yet, so will experiment with: 1st, the monitor SIZE, and then a better camera?
OK guys and gals, . . that's my input for now and I am sorry I have NO pics to show, . . . as yet? My tractor is a new in 2006 JD 3520 Cab with T,L and a bucket-grapple, and lots of rear hyds like top'n'tilt and blade spinner for box and grader and snow plowing etc. At my age (78-1/2) I'd never be without the advantages of an all-season CAB. So far, no snow, (green 2015 Xmas), but as in past and possibly present winters, it's a pleasure to go out plowing at 3 or 4 AM with no or light traffic on the hi-way when you get there and have to clean up after the County Plow goes screamin' by!!!
CHEERS for now and a very Happy, Healthy New Year (2016) to all you guys and gals on this fantastic net !!!!!! Best Wishes !!
. . . tug

Hi Guys,
Finally got a monitor and back up camera to monitor front loader work; but having trouble hooking it up. Maybe someone would have a solution. The monitor is a "7" Lcd with RCA connectors". I hooked it up and it seems to work ok. Blue screen appears when you start the engine. However I cannot figure out how to get power to the camera. The camera is made by Gazer as is the monitor.. The camera is the cc 100HD. The camera harness has a RCA plug and also a DC plug. The DC plug is suppose to plug into the monitor DC plug but the harness from the monitor doesn't have a DC fitting. There are some other wires (red and black) that I tried to hook up directly with the tractor 12v but still dosn/t work. My understanding is that it suppose to be plug and play. I just noticed an option for the monitor it comes in either RCA like the one I have or 13 pin. Did I get the wrong connection? I am not sure the 13 pin would work either.
Any suggestions?
Thanks, Craig

If it's a backup camera or automotive type anything there is a 95% chance it runs on 12v & you could just wire it up to your fuse box & go.

In theory you'd be better off with a monitor that provided & switched power to the camera when viewing that camera. But in practice powering the camera off an ignition switched circuit would be fine. Lifespan may be cut in half at worst, so a decade instead of 2. But I bet it will get smashed by tractor use within a few years and replaced by another $25 camera before the electronics wear out.

Your 13 pin connector probably has a couple RCA connectors & power lines for each RCA. I'm pretty sure it's a standard as mine on my former L3200 had this same exact connector & pigtail only with a 4 pin screw tightened plug (2 RCA & 2 power pins instead of RCA & a barrel plug) Vehicle 13 Pin Din Plug Video Cable With RCA Connector For Car Reversing Camera. seen both styles, but the 4 pin plug is weather tight & better for our uses. I expect they have that type on the site I linked if I looked around more.

watching.

can see its an old thread but thought worthy of a bump with cheap android head units available now.

looking to do this because i will be running a cable to the FEL for an electric actuator to operate the lever for the euro quick connect pins anyway, only other concern is a lot of the screens dont display very well in sunlight, do people use hoods or something similar on the screens? otherwise with android 7" head units so cheap mught even jsut bight the bullet and put one of these in and enjoy the radio and android features as well, and just wire a toggle switch to the reversing function to activate the camera/screen.

There are a lot of places on my tractor I would like to see better. But I don't have or want a cab. Most screens wash out easily in sunlight. Haven't really found a solution to that. I also do s lot of photo work with a drone. The pictures and videos scenes are shown on a screen. My phone washes out. I got and iPad mini for that purpose, but it also washes out in sunlight. Now went working with the drone, I have another person use a Hood with the iPad for pictures and I do the flying.
I also have a camera that I added in the car. On back. In my jeep. They the top is down, sun washes out that screen. It is a $250 setup - Rear View Camera.

Does anyone have a screen that is usable working in the sunlight mounted on the tractor?
