Back in the saddle

About a year ago, I had to sell my 2005 New Holland TC40A and all of my implements because of health problems and the resulting medical bills. I managed to get a JD Gator 6x4 with the equity I had in the tractor, but of course that comes nowhere close to replacing the tractor. Since then, I have been going crazy from not having my tractor. The back hill needs bush hogged, the driveway needs graded, the ditch needs cleaned out... I couldn't till my food plots last spring or plow my driveway last winter, and I had to turn down neighbors that needed tractor work done. I don't think a day went by that I didn't gripe to someone about missing my tractor.

Last Saturday, I arrived home from my daughter's softball game to find a tractor in my driveway. Seems my in-laws decided that missing my tractor that badly wasn't good or healthy for me, so they decided to fix the problem. They bought me a 1952 Ford 8N, fully restored, with less than 25 hours on the clock since the restoration was completed. I still have to replace my implements, but it's nice to get back to work with what I do have. I think I can't say anything bad about the in-laws for a while after this one.

Congratulations on your "new" tractor! Glad to hear that you will once again be tractoring. When I was young we had an 8N that we used to beat the heck out of and it kept coming back for more! Have fun!

Man, that's a great story! Not that you were ill, but that you recovered from the health problems and then learned that you have some wonderful in-laws who care for you very much! I would send her a dozen roses, and him a big bottle of his favorite liquid beverage.

Good luck with the 8n, and don't forget to put up some pic's of it! It should serve you well like it has done so many thousands of other people. Hope you can get some attachments right soon so you can really get back to work.

Excellent!! i had a 2 n and i still miss the sound of that engine cranking over and staring right up. by any chance does it have a loader on it?

You surely are blessed with wonderful in-laws. I have a soft spot in my heart for the 8N, having spent many hours in the saddle in my youth. What a great little workhorse. Congrats on the "new" ride - enjoy!
