Hello

My understanding is that there are some slight differences between the folding and non-folding ROPS B7800's. Besides the ROPS and the mid-mount PTO is there anything else? I saw mention of cruise control as well. Can anyone confirm these differences?

You are correct, I have the folding ROPS, Mid Mount PTO and cruise. Other than those there were not any other differences I saw from the basic model when started to look.
Great machine.

I was just talking with my local dealer today and he says that unless you have a specific need for the folding ROPS, he tries to steer people away from it. The reason being . . . is that the joints where it folds is located basically in line with the operators ears and the thing clangs and rattles as you are using the tractor. He said most owners will jam wood shims down in the joint to keep it from rattling. Another interesting thing he pointed out is that the folding ROPS is taller by over a foot than the non-folding model. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

My ROP is foldable but I haven't noticed any noise from it. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The taller ROPS allows a backhoe to be used with the tractor without the operator hitting his/her head on the ROPS. If you're planning to put a backhoe on the tractor, the folding ROPS is the way to go.

I don't have the "rattling" problem on my B2910...I'm assuming it's the same ROPS. Mine is tightened just enough to be "stiff" while moving it into position.

Hi,

I've never folded down the ROPS on my B2910, but I can assure you that during the 170 hours I have put on the tractor in the last 10 months the ROPS never made a sound...

Wonder why the dealer is trying to push the non-folding ROPS? Is that model all he has access to?

When I mow I have the ROPS down and I haven't heard a thing. If it did rattle I would gladly put rubber between to keep my option open for a BH. I'd go with the folding ROPS, getting the Mid PTO option will add versatility to your machine and will help if you decide to sell or trade.
