Any ideas? This is the first time for me to change the fuel filter, and the filter seems jammed into the translucent bowl. I'm afraid to whang on it because I don't want to break the bowl. Searched for this topic in the forum but nothing springs to the forefront.

Mine would be tight when I owned a b7800. I used needle nose pliers and worked the white part of filter up by pulling up equally on each side. I never just "cleaned" the filter, I alwaysed replaced it with a new one as the pliers would chew into the top of the filter insert a bit. Be sure to save the lttle tiny o ring from the old filter as the new one wont have a replacement with it. There is also a larger o ring save that as well. Good luck. B7800 is a great tractor.

I use a small sharp-pointed pick/probe to dig it out on our B2910. And I do reuse them several times.

Other than that, what namesray said.

they are a tight fit. Pay attention to the two "o" rings

Like others said, use needle nose pliers. Throw out the old one and use new. Do not reuse, too easy to damage the paper filter and cleaning does not do a go job getting the small particles off the filter.

Don't forget to get new O-rings when you purchase the new filter. The filter should come with new ones but they don't. You can also but a complete new filter assembly including the bowl and housing for just a few bucks more than the filter and O-rings. I think the O-rings are like $1.99 each and the filter about $12 for my B26. The parts guy showed me the complete assembly for about $5 more IIRC.

I found that I can clean my paper element at every 100-hour interval, then replace at 200 hours. I clean with fresh kerosene.

You guys kill me. $20k + tractor and you wont buy a $10 filter.

Try running a tap in the little hole in the center, clamp tap in vice and pull bowl off.

Right. We all didn't get stinkin' rich by wasting nickles and dimes . . . or $10 bucks either. Sweat the small stuff, I always say! ****, I'll use a paper towel more'n once if it ain't greasy.

Edit. Those four asterisks in the previous line represent a no-no word that I can only describe as a hot place you don't want to go.
