Said many times here. Many times.

Glad you got it going. Been there.

When that happened to me it was the safety switch on the HST pedal which makes the tractor shut down when there is no operator on the seat but the pedal is pushed down.

To test:

With the ignition on and standing on the ground move the HST pedal forward slowly and you should hear the relay click as you go forward and click as you go back to neutral. If you don't hear it try sticking a wood shim in between the switch plunger and the back of the pedal arm. If you hear it click on and off after that the switch will need to be adjusted. Basically moving the switch closer to the pedal arm.

One possibility anyway.

Never mind - just saw your post somehow I skipped a page. Duh

not really a mechanic what tools will I need to put in a new safety switch ?

Look at the fasteners and see if you have the right tools. I have never had to change mine. I would think just simple wrenches and screwdrivers would do it.

I don't know about the B7800 but on mine it was just a matter of turning the mounting nuts on the plunger switch to take up the play between the pedal assembly and the switch plunger. So you may not need a new switch - have you tried pushing the plunger with the key on to hear if the relay works?

Unfortunately I needed to use a big old 1 and 1/8 (mm?)wrench to fit around those nuts and had to remove one loaded back tire (300lbs of fun) to get it in there.

It may not be an option to you but I saved myself the headache and just eliminated the switch. I had mine "adjusted" at the dealer and it worked only a few more times before it quit again. My tractor slept in the woods twice when the switch decided not to work, after the second time I decided it wasnt going to happen again. All I did was cut the wires at the plug, twisted them together and never worried about it again. problem solved, but remember, once its hotwired the tractor can move when your off the seat so always use the parking brake and neutral if you intend to let it run when your off of it.

I bypassed my hydro switch for the same reason for a while (intermittent). If you ever need dealer service, however, they can't let it out the door with it bypassed. I just replace ALL my safety switches after having progressively worse intermittents.

A good dealer will put the blinders on.

This is a common problem on the B7800. Mine wouldn't start one time in the garage. Finally pulled all wiring connectors under the seat and filled them with dielectric grease. Started up. Some time later, weeks or months I don't remember I was sitting on a hill and foot on the brake talking on my phone and it died. I let it roll down the hill a little and it started. Later it died again so unplugged and plugged back all connectors under the seat. Wouldn't start. I tried pushing it to rock it a little thinking maybe the starter had a dead spot on windings. No start. Accidently rocked foot forward-reverse pedal and it started. Did it a few times after that and centering the foot pedal always resolved the problem. Then one day on this forum I find a thread on non starting B7800"s and rocking the foot pedal is the answer and the same issiue with B7800's not starting comes back through the forum from time to time. For all B7800 owners, always rock the foot pedal to make sure it's centered if it won't start. Why they die while running, I don't know but sometimes they do.
