B7800 blowing #2 10a fuse help

I have multiple threads on this and spent an hour or 2. I bought a 10a circuit breaker (which I learned about by researching here), but it trips instantly and then I have to wait for the 5-6 seconds before I can try to start again and sometimes several times. I thought the cb would allow my gauges to work, but I dont have any working gauges. Is there anything else I should try. I am ready to haul it in to the dealer and see if they can fix it.

Dealer is just going to start tracing the wires from point A to B looking for a spot where is worn through the protective cover causing it to short out. Instead of paying him $90/hour... I would start doing the same thing. Trace wires back and forth. If it's shorting out, get a few extra eyes and hears to help find it. Maybe even do it in the dark.

What does it look like behind the gauges? a mouse nest?

Should be easy to find... you already know what circuit is shorted...
Like what was said... just check that wiring...

There's no easy way around it. You'll have to go to the dealer and get the wiring diagram for that circuit (if you haven't already) and find everything on it and unplug each one to see if your CB stops tripping. If that doesn't work then you have a wire shorting out somewhere. Like TEG said, maybe a mouse did a little chewing or it could be something is rubbing on the harness and has made it's way through the insulation down to the copper wire.

If you bought it used it's also possible someone tried adding something extra to that circuit and then removed it before selling it and just cut the wire and didn't seal the end. I'm guessing that if you bring it to the dealer they are going to do the same thing. But if the harness is bad they will replace it where as you could fix it and save some money.
