Just got a B7510 Yesterday, and am a total newbie at tractors. I am reinforcing the top of the blade with a piece of 1" black pipe, welded along the top, under the lip, for my hooks.

I got a front end loader, 5 ft finish mower, 4 ft. brush hog, 5 ft. disk harrow, posthole digger, boxblade, a middle buster, and a tiller. NOW, I have to pay for it.

I am going to be mowing part tme with it, to make my payments for it. Figured I would let some of the Doctos and Lawyers who live in my Peyton PLace town help me, since I am a poor old retired firefighter.....lol

I think I am going to mow small acreage (Up to about 5 acres?), small dirt jobs, tilling gardens, etc.

Do any of you folks do that? If so, what do you charge? I am looking at about $40 per hour here, but wonder if anyone figures differently, or by the acre, etc. ANY helpful knowledge would be most appreciated!

Anyway, I will be most happy to report on the tractor, from a newbies standpoint, as I go.....

Your idea for reinforcing the bucket with steel pipe where you plan to attach the hooks sounds like a good one. I would be interested in seeing that once you get it completed. Post a picture if you can. I got the B7610 this Saturday and I am looking forward to getting more seat time. Enjoy your tractor.

Denni, I know out here in Parker CO there is a guy that has been mowing fields for a couple of years. I hear he charges 35 dollars an acre.

Welcome to TBN. I don't hire out myself but there are probably some on here that do. I'd like to accumulate the equipment to be able to do that one day.

From reading several posts about it I can only pass along one bit of advice that is repeated in all threads related to this.....and that is don't do it unless you have insurance to cover it.

That seems very cheap compared to what many people in lawn care and landscaping are charging today. You might want to browse at http://www.lawnsite.com it looks like $60+ per hour is what many of them would charge, of course that's going to vary from place to place.

Denni,

I was going to use a piece of pipe too. On my B2910 it fit perfectly under the lip.

Then I noticed I had a piece of angle that would give a better surface to weld the hooks on.

I have attached a picture of how mine turned out. I am glad I went with the angle, but I am sure the pipe will work pretty well too.

Happy tractoring... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
