b7500 owners tire question

do any of you newer b7500 owners have the front turf tires and the rear bar turfy ag tires? i was wondering how that setup works. i have a hilly lot to mow and move mulch and also plow out small snow storms. im thinking that the front turfs wont dig in when turning in the lawn and the rear mildly aggresive rears will give me the flotation and good traction. i was leaning towards r4's but the more i read about r4's, the more i think the somewhat standard setup will be more versitile.

There been much talk about the R4's.
Some have found out the R4's didn't clean the mud & snow quick enough,than there ice condition where tire chains were needed...but AG's,R4's,Turf's on ice really doesn't matter w/out chains.

Than there the factor of lawn mowing & FEL work where some are really pleased.

Take time and review the type of land & weather conditions & attachments.

i have the turf's all the way around on my 7500. if your going
to mow alot with your 7500 i'd be leery of any other tire types
even with turfs, at the bottom of my hill, if i'm not careful, when i turn, it tears up the lawn. so far i've had no problem using the loader to move snow. hope this helps.

hi rich, i got my b7500 from keller bros., up on fruitville pike.
i talked to stotzfus a couple of times as i was looking into a
bx2200 at the time. he only had a bx1800 on the lot and no
2200 or 7500. he told me that he had no timeline on when they might get either in. you could tell he wanted to sell the
1800. well i went up to keller bros. and right next to the
bx2200's that they had was a b7500. end of story! glen fessler
up at keller bros. gave me a quote on a b7500/la272 loader/
60" mid mower/ folding rops- $14,500. to tell the truth stotzfus was only 500.00 more than keller bros. but glen fessler was alot easier to deal with than marvin at stotzfus

R4 is the most versatile tire, but not the best if you want to avoid most possible turf damage, and only mow. If other uses come into play when 4WD will be used, the R4 fronts are going to give much better traction than the turfs. Which will you do more? Mow or other stuff?

If only every tractor had 3 sets of tires. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

How are R4's one ice vs turfs? I find that the turfs work real well on my ice rink, I wonder if the R4s would be better?

I would repeat what Thomas said, that it probably doesn't matter. Snow is a different matter, but chains would be how I would attack the traction on ice issue. Maybe not your desire with your ice rink, though. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

The only thing I would think of is your good traction from the turfs may be a result of the turf tire having the most rubber actually touching the ground. A tire with lugs on the other hand is going to have less actual rubber on the surface. R4 does have a lot more than R1, obviously... just an idea.

probably the most action will be on grass during spring summer and fall. mowing 1+ acre and usually go thru 20 yds of mulch plus spreading dirt. i also will be doing side jobs like mowing grass and/or fields and moving dirt,stone or whatever i find to do. during the winter clearing my driveway and maybe more if the timing is right. i can always do the chain deal during snow, right? and also have the 4 wheel drive. the rear bar turf agy type that are on one the b7500's at the dealer currently look like they might be good. does anyone have them on?? i still have a few months until i get this b7500, i have a jetski to sell first, the cub got sold last weekend. the guy drove 300 miles each way to get it. did you guys see my pic in the pic section under "66 loboy" ?

Thats one good thing about tire chains,for you can put them on in a snap if need be.

Sounds like the turf-bar tires would suit you well, Rich. If traction becomes a problem in the snow, yes, chains are an option. I don't see how the turf-bar tires wouldn't give you enough traction in the tasks you mention.

I have seen the turf-bar tires on many tractors... they were much more popular before R4 came along on the B-series machines. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif
