Kubota B7500
I would like to take the weight of the tractor off the rear wheel so I could tighten that nut and bolt that tends to loosen on some B7500's. The one that helps hold the wheel on the axil. Where is the best jack point to lift a rear wheel?

Any place on the main casing, just watchout for plugs or drains.

I would agree with ( DieselD ). I adjusted my wheels in about a week ago and used a sissor jack and placed it in the center between the back wheels so I could get both wheels in the air at the same time. Just watch out for plugs that can be easily damagged.

I just checked mine the other day, had a 1/2 drive torque wrench on it without jacking it up. It was a tight fit but I can be done, my bolts were still nice and tight.

I position the jack under the drawbar bracket (mine's heavy enough...is yours?), then put jack stands under the axles.

FYI, my jack is a regular shop floor jack with 4 casters. I don't like the bottle jacks. You need to get too close to the tractor using them.

A small safety pointer...

Don't forget that the front of the tractor is on a pivot at the center of the front axle.

If you jack the back off the ground witha jack under the center of the rear, then there is a possibility the tractor could tilt to either side if something changes to throw off the balance. Like someone climbing on from one side, or whatever.

You certainly would not want to have a rear tire off if this happened. Granted, the tilt would only go as far as the stop on the front axle would let it, but once things start moving the unexpected can happen.

The best thing to do is to jack up the rear end and then put a jack stand under each side of the axle.

Only takes an extra minute and jack stands are cheap to buy if you don't already have some.

This is something that I only realized after owning my tractor for a while, and that is why I am passing it on, just in case. I don't mean to sound like a "know it all" or anything like that... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Henro:

The problem with you jacking up your tractor is finding a level spot on your property to do it!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"Don't forget that the front of the tractor is on a pivot at the center of the front axle."

Good point! First time I jacked the tractor, the FEL was installed...no problems.
Second time, the FEL was off and the tractor started rolling forward slowly (remember, my floor jack has casters).

So, make sure you chock your front tires if your FEL is off the machine.

That parking brake only works on the rear wheels

Henro,
Don't you have a BH? I'll never forget the first time I needed to remove my wheels. I walked around the tractor about 4 times.... scratching my head.... looking for that ideal jack point. Finally had a plan. Then I spent 5 minutes digging out my floor jack. Then I had to get down on the ground and I'm thinking .... man it sure would be a lot easier to get to the rear axle if this darn backhoe wasn't in the way........ It was shortly after that when the whole neighborhood heard the familiar "Doah....." I guess that's what those stabilzers do on the backhoe.

Greg, Yes I do. And it sure does make things easier like you say when it is on. I don't think the original poster does though...

Trouble is, my backhoe is only on half the time. Too many other useful things to hang on the back, depending what I am trying to do! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Man...how did I ever get anything done without a tractor???? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
