A local dealer is offering me a B7400 w/the smaller FEL for approx 10600. He is telling me that it is a more powerful tractor than the bx2200 that I was leaning toward. He is also steering me away from a MMM and into a rear pto driven mower.As a novice the B7400 appears to have more lift ability and ground clearance but w/o power steering. Opinions? Help? Is the loss of pwer steering a big deal?

I don't know about the 7400, but I do have the BX2200. For me the power steering is great, but then again I am only using the tractor on a 1/2 acre residential lot and need to be able to easily maneuver around the obstacles. The MMM on the BX series is great for lawns - I am getting a nicer cut than I had with my push mower.

Power steering is just about a must when useing a FEL on a compact tractor,for I have B7100 w/fel and after getting your knuckles wrap and fingers twisted /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif you wish you had power steering,also for mowing as well.

power steering is great(see THOMAS'S post). have u driven both models? u need to do that then u can decide for yourself if it is a big factor for u. for me at my age and the condition of my hands and arms i would not even consider a tractor with out ps.

You well very much appreciate power steering it is well worth the money. If the size of the frame is appealing to you, you can shop around and find a B-7500 for only a little more than your quote.

Power steering is a must. I have a B7500 w/MMM and FEL and I don't know how I would do without it. You might want to ask your dealer to give you a price on one. The BX 2200 is a fine machine but, if you like the style of the B7400 try looking at the B7500.

I had a B7400 last year with a loader and traded it in a L2600.
The reason the traded it was it was very hard the steer with a full bucket and the 12 pto hp wasn't enough.

I just purchased the B7500 and love it. I think you would appreciate not only the power steering the 7500 offers, but also the extra horsepower.

I got a pkg. deal f/ my dealer consisting of the tractor, Woods FEL, Pyramid 4' box scraper and a 5' WAC RFM that had been used once ( it had been traded in by someone for a MMM) for $11,500.

I almost bought a 7400, but for another $1100 I went with the 7500. All the same reasons previously listed.

I've been on this forum for almost 6 months and have yet to see anyone that owns a 7400.

i can tell you that i had a 7400 for 24 hours! the dealer brought me a 2410 the next day....all because of the lack of power steering. its a nice machine but its heavy. take a look at the 7500.

Keep in mind that Kubota has just announced that they are introducing a B7800 also. Just had to throw that in to confuse you some more.
