Kubota BX22 that was left to me by a dear friend. B7300 w/MMM
The mid-pto is leaking and it appears to be coming from the seam where it bolts to the transmission not the shaft seal. In looking at the parts list for the mid-pto and the transmission I don't see a gasket or o-ring listed for where the mid-pto assembly mates to the transmission. Is it just a machined surface with some type sealer on it? Do the 4 bolts that hold it need thread sealer on them?

When I first noticed the leak I assumed it was the pto shaft seal itself leaking. After cleaning everything with the steam cleaner and looking at the leak the next day its not the shaft seal.

Keep in mind I have a different model tractor. The mid-pto used RTV to seal - machined surfaces on both pto and case. No gasket.

Moship, thanks for the reply. I'm guessing all the oil has to be drained from the transmission before removing the mid-pto assembly?

Yes, and I left it drain overnight to make certain the flange area remained clean when applying sealant and during the cure process. It takes a long time for the oil to stop dripping.

I'll just do a complete hydro service when I do this.
