B7100 trans control shaft

I was all set to live with the hydro creep until I read Egon's comments in another thread about the neutral adjustment. That got me reading the maintenance manual and crawling under the tractor again. The centering roller seems to be doing it's job. The drift is both forward and back, so I think the adjustment is good. Next I looked for the trans control shaft as Ozzie suggested. From what I can see, I think that the arm is loose on the trans control shaft. Now how the heck do I get at it to tighten the clamp bolt? I can see the bolt from above but can't turn a wrench or socket on it. Removing the hydro filter may help. Can anyone give me some tips?

Ahh - it's a fun job but really not to hard.

As I recall remove the filter, use a 1/4 in, drive universal joint, longer extension, ratchet and its either a 10 or 12 mil socket. Use some patience, look it over reall good and it is possible. Just make sure you do not get the v notch off of the centering roller as the bally thing moves back and forth on the shaft.

Also there is an adjustment on the right side of the transmission. There is an access hole in the metal frame leading to a nut. Remove the nut and then you have access to a wobble plate type ajustment screw which will center the forward/reverse moition of the tractor. It may not be mentioned in the manual.

Within the next several weeks I am going to remove all excess items on my tractor and take it to the dealer for repair. My limited skills have proved inadaquate to this point.

Oh - cover the filter opening before dropping the socket in the hole!
