I have a '94 B7100HST that is new to me. It had a problem where it would not return to neutral. The opposite pedal had to be tapped to get it stop travel in that direction. Annoying to say the least, dangerous an understatement. examination from underneath identified the problem, which prompted taking it apart to fix and clean. It required rear separation to get to it. This uncovered a bad U-joint. One thing led to another and I've got it almost all apart to begin restoration and rebuild.
Here though is the original problem:
The "neutral holder" (part# 66204-43310) had loosened and slid outward on its shaft such that it no longer rode upon the bearing (08121-06000) on the "arm neutral holder" (66204-43343). Instead it rode upon the washer which actually cut a groove into the bottom of the neutral holder and wore down the arm shaft. This positioning did not allow it to go back to neutral on its own. See the pictures below for normal and abnormal.

Amazingly these parts are available and I have replacements on the way. Otherwise I would weld 'em up and grind to spec. In order to prevent this from happening again (in case the HST shaft is worn and responsible) I plan to substitute a fender washer for the OEM washer (04011-50100) so that it overlaps the neutral holder preventing it from slipping off in the future.
thanks
