My B7001 (similar to B7100) has a permanemt magnet alternator rated at 8 amps but only works if the engine revs close to max. As I have an electric water pump (and thermostat) drawing 1.2 amp in place of thermosyphon cooling which didn't work, the problem is exacerbated and I resort to a mains charger after almost every outting. I've changed the regulator unit which improved the output but it's not enough. Anyone got a solution, such as a proper small alternator, say 15 amp, which could be rigged up instead? The engine is in superb condition so hopefully will last a long time yet.

The Hitachi alternator for a 1980's Nissan/Datsun pickup is a perfect replacement... it is self regulating... (has an internal regulator).
It is small & will put out over 30 amps... simple wiring hook up.
This replacement has been used on a lot of tractors... KennyV

BTW you can getr them from most auto supply stores, rebuilt for less than $50 .... PART IS: Hitachi 14231.

I know you didn't ask, but the cooling should work without a pump if the radiator is clear of chaff and not mineral-ed up inside.
