I found the turbo on E-bay. I did a little research and found that there are only a couple of turbo's that meet the requirments of this small displacement engine. I think im right about .74 liter. the garrett gt12 is a match and the kkk kp31 off of the euorpean turbo diesel smart car. I chose the KP31. There is a bit of machining and welding that has to be done to get it to mount to the manifold. it probably will take a better part of 10 hrs. to do all the machining, welding and placing. Then replumbing all the air and oil. But i think it's worth it. Ill attach some pic's of my little Satoh S370D that I turbo'd Then you will get a little better Idea of what all goes into it. I had to build a header on it. The Kubota I will be able to mount right to the manifold.

Waaaahooooooo. The turbo's here. Now the fun begin's Started doing mods tonight. Building flanges tomorrow. This will probably all fit under the hood too. Most excelent.

Should have some pic's tomarrow.

Glad to hear everything looks to be falling into place. I'm sure everyone would appreciate as much documentation/pictures as possible so that those of us not as knowledgeable about turbos could possibly recreate your accomplishment.

Although I don't have a Kubota yet, I plan to be purchasing either a 6200HST or 7200HST in the very near future. I've done a LOT of research on the various models and those two best fit my needs/price/size. And being able to increase the output on these smaller tractors seems like a very good way to "do more with less".

Good luck with the project!

This is my first Bota also. I try to find used tractors that need TLC then fix them up and sell them. But this little tractor is in great shape. So I think I will keep this one. I have a full plate right now. My water jet cut parts for my backhoe got deliverd today. So Im going to be working around 3 different projects at once here. Pic's come as I remember. So please bare with me. Most people really dont need a turbo. And I really don't need the turbo. Butttt!!!!! (evil grin) Diesel's with turbo's are soooo cool. And this little 13 hp 3 cyl. is just ripe for getting pumped. Plus I can say... Hay look under the hood of my bota. Bet you never seen that on a little tractor befor. With 6 psi of boost from the turbo I should be able to make right around 22 hp. and a bit more torque. This perticular turbo is made for an 800 cc 3cyl turbo diesel in a smart car. It produces about 65 hp. but spinning alot more RPM. I'm around 720 cc's and 3 cylinder's. I dont think I can push more that 8 psi. and really dont want to go that high anyway. Ya start breaking stuff, and you have to start adding inner coolers and blow off valves. That takes all the fun out of it. I will keep you all posted as I go along. Im just in the design phase right now. So it could be a week or so before anything really starts to happen.

I know what you mean. I have a terminal case of the "upgrade it!" bug myself. I am just finishing up a total body-off buildup of an extended cab 1987 Ford Ranger XLT 4x4. 4.10 gears, limited slip rearend, polyurethane bushings everywhere, mild lift, fiberglass visor, Fastback, etc, etc, etc. The only thing I didn't end up doing was the 302 V8/C4 swap. I had everything to do the swap sitting in my garage and decided that I had to draw the line somewhere and sold the parts. The stock 2.9L V6 runs great and has plenty of power with 32x11.50s because of the lower gearing.

So I totally understand the fact that while you don't NEED to turbo it, you WANT to. :)

All the mechanical work is done on my project and it's sitting in primer in my garage. Once I squirt the paint I'll reassemble it, take it for a drive once around the block and then put a "For Sale" sign in it and move on to the next project. Which will hopefully be the aforementioned Kubota. I will, at the minimum, repaint it so that it looks new (nice job on yours, btw). A turbo might come later depending on how comfortable I would feel doing it after following your progress.

Building a toy that is a step above the norm makes all the work feel worthwhile.

FYI - There was someone else who did a B6000 turbo project back in 2001. He posted a few tidbits of info that might (or might not) prove useful to your project.

Wow you really have to keep on your toes in this group. You loose your spot in the posts if you dont keep writing. Pic's are still on the way. just finished up a scraper blade for the tractor. I know... I could have just bought one. But why, when I can build one that better and stronger. So Im ready for the snow again. The tractor projects will be somewhat on hold for a week whild I get my boy's snowmobile finished. The things we do to keep our kids happy... As for the tractor. I have finished up drawings for flanges in Solidworks (3D cad program) I've started machining the turbine housing for the retrofit to the flange mounts. The one thing I don't like about this turbo is that the turbine housing is none turnable. So your kind of stuck as to two positions that I can mount it. (facing forward or backwards). If I wasn't so cheap I would plunk down 800 bucks on HT12 turbo then I wouldn't have to weld any flanges and I could mount it any number a ways. But for now the muffler will be removed and the manifold capped. I will machine in an opening just above and infront of the existing opening. then weld in the flange to mount the turbo to. Then I will start the plumbing. I will T- off of the oil pressure switch to provide oil to the turbo. The turbo will be sitting high enough in the hood that I will be able to return the oil through the valve cover. I think???? Then I can start the ducting to the intake and air filters. I will try and plumb the exhaust back out and near the existing side cover hole in the cowling. It should look factory when I get it finished. Hopefully it will preform much better than factory.

Hey... Anyone need snow. I got some if you need some. Spent 7 hrs this morning cleaning driveways. This little tractor has more balls than my ford or Satoh. And is only 13 hp. Whats up with that. Were can I pick up a small snowblower for this thing. I need like a 42 to 46 inch wide one. Any Idea's?
The trubo project is still movine ahead. I got my flanges from the machine shop and have milled the turbo housing to that I can weld the turbo to the flanges. Im having trouble figureing out were to run the exhaust once it's been through the turbo. There's just not alot of room under that hood. I might have to put the turbo out side. That wouldnt look to cool. But I might not have a choice. Ill have to get a used side panel and do some fab work to cover the turbo up. Anyone know were I can find a used left side panel? Well enough for now.
