b5100e can find the dip stick

I just got a b5100e and checking all the fluids. And I came to the transmission fluid and cannot find the dipstick or sight glass. Can some one help me? I think that it is low because the 3 pt hitch goes up but acts like its got air in it.

If your b5100 is like my b7100 the dipstick is just to the right of the shift lever on the top of the transmission.

But I don't think the transmission oil operates the 3 point lift. I had the same issue with my B5100E and scoured the shop manual (still available in photocopies from the dealer). The transmission dipstick is indeed as described, but there is no mention of the fill plug for the lift. Look behind the seat, a bit to the right and there is a classic looking fill plug. I filled that with hydraulic fluid and the lift works better now. Good luck

The dipstick on the B5100 I had been replaced with a screw on cap when I bought it. However there was screw in plug or bolt on the right side. That you could remove and if the fluid started to ooze out it was full.

I miss the sound of that little tractor.

I was completely wrong in my earlier reply. The shop manual has one small line in the transmission section stating that the hydraulics work from the transmission oil.

Oh well, it was probably time to change the transmission oil anyway and now that I've mixed in hydraulic fluid it will happen.
