I made my 3rd stop at another tractor dealer today. It was to see what orange has to offer. I really liked both the B3030 and the L3400 tractors. I want to get one with the FEL at the time of purchase. What are the prices that others are getting quoted out there? Also any of you local to the western Pa side of the country. I did not realize that dealers offer different prices till I read a post on here.

I have also looked at the Farmtrac 3030 and the John Deere 2520. So I am still shopping but the Kubotas are at the top of the group as of now.

I wouldn't touch the Farmtrac with a 10' pole.

What are your tasks going to be with the tractor? The 3030 and 3400 are way different. How much land will you be working?

What do you plan to use your tractor for? Tell us a bit more about your land and your plans.

The B3030 is a really nice premium B series machine. It is lighter weight and smaller frame than the L3400. It is ideal if your chores involve finish mowing for example.

The L3400 is a larger frame and heavier machine. It does not have many of the premium features of the B3030.

Sorry for taking so long to get back, stuck at work all day and night.

I have 7 acres of land, about 5 of those wooded and about 2 grass. 1/2 is hill and the rest is flat. I have 2 small "rain only" streams and a larger stream that I cross with a bridge at the bottom of the driveway. I need the tractor for landscape issues of course. Plus thinking of cutting the crass once the yard is fixed. There are many areas that are not level, lots of ruts holes and high low areas. It is a pain in the rear to cut using my Craftsman YDS5500 riding mower. I have removed a bunch of trees but there are many more to go and the stumps will need to be removed. Or I will rent a stump grinder.

I like the 2 PTO's on the B3030 but the price is up there when you add the FEL.

I imagine that you are looking for the 'grass' to be a lawn? so you are finish mowing? Are you thinking of a mid mount mower - probaby more comfortable in a smaller area.

Sounds to me like you might be best off sticking witht he B series. It will do all of your landscaping chores and will definately be better than the L when it comes to finish mowing. A mid mount mower is nicer for finish mowing IMHO.

You could also probably do with less tractor. Personally if I were you I might think of a smaller B, perhaps with a backhoe... or stick with the top of the line B3030 and get a backhoe!

The grass is a yard and I would like to cut it with a finish mower vs a brush hog. I guess I could always jump down to the B2630. By the specs it looks like they will do just about the same amount but it looks like the motor on the 2630 has to work harder to do it.

I notice that the L3400 is made for more a Landscaper or someone that uses the tractor for his business.

I am going to have to go back to the dealership and try to look at them more. I will also test them out a little more too. The dealer did have a trade in B7800 with 64 hours on it. It has the FEL and the non-Kubota back hoe. forget which one it was. He was asking $17,500 for it.

No matter what I get I just want to make sure I get the right one for me. I do not want to regret the purchase because it was either to big or to small for my needs.

Hills + tree and stump removal..I would go with the heavier L with a woods bh80x hoe over the lighter B. For the 2 acres of grass, once you level it out , I would use the money for a zero turn mower over the finish mower, if its not too hilly.

I already have a Craftsman FS5500 for cutting the grass. So I don't see me getting a zero turn.

How much more of a tractor is the L3400 vs the B3030? Is there really that much more that it can do? It is about $1,000 cheaper but it does not have the hydro stat tranny and the other bells and whistles.

I am going back to the dealer and looking at them again.

It weighs more, by about 700lbs which can be a good thing when operating on hills, but not so good on finish lawns. I believe the 3030 lift capacities are right there with the 3400.

B3030 3pt lift capacity is over 200# higher than the L3400. L3400 FEL only lifts 50# more than the B3030. I personally didn't see the benefit of the L3400 over the B3030. For the size & power of the 3400, I'd want higher FEL and 3pt lift capacities. Then there are the sporadic PTO issues, especially the engagement cable.

When I was looking, I decided that if I wanted bigger and heavier than the B3030, I would go with one of the Grand L's - much better capacities, even in the standard FEL.
