Yeah, originally it was clearly just a seat switch issue - back when I could start it, but couldn't move it. But when I jumped the seat switch and it wouldn't even start anymore, even though I had other electrical all working fine, I figured it was another switch that went bad, probably HST from how it was acting. Didn't occur to me to check the fuse since the dash lit up, but it would make sense.

Brilliant. I haven't tried to start it yet - its raining. But the 5 amp opc fuse was blown.

Question - there are 3 fuses on the side of the fuse box that look like spares, in addition to the 6 (5 normally, plus extra work lights) that are marked. Kubota isn't clear - are those spares for sure?

Dieznutz - great diagnosis.

Replaced fuse, jumped seat wires, and it worked perfectly. I spliced things back together, so the seat switch is working. I have to redo the seat tilt switching, but that's fine, messicks had left something undone (not my usual experience with them, btw, stuff happens).

So I have to figure out how to set up the seat tilt switch so it engages properly. Was thinking a toggle, but then thought, one day I'll forget to reset the toggle... usual switch setup won't work, so I need a different method. Any thoughts are welcome.

thanks! It was more than enough surgery... On which front, how the HECK do people get the dash over the steering column and throttle? There has got to be a better way than my tweak it for five minutes and curse extensively, right?

I saw no way of dismantling either the column or the throttle, and barring that, man is that dash section a pain

As far as the Tilt switch, it basically only comes into play if you're trying to run a stationary rear PTO attachment while not on the tractor (seat up). Otherwise you could probably leave it disconnected (open), and never miss it. If you do, be sure to isolate the wires so they don't short to each other or any part of the tractor (and blow your fuse again). Hard to suggest how to fix it properly without seeing it.

Yes the basic setup is the 5 fuses in the fuse box, plus the fusible link (slow-blow) over by the starter.

As far as the dash, not really sure, haven't had to dig into mine. Looks like even to take the instrument panel off you have to pull the steering wheel though.

I run a chipper a lot, so have to have the seat tilt working. Have gotten around it with a quick clamp on a switch, but there's got to be a more elegant situation.

Looks like kubota gives you an extra 5 10 20 fuse in a row. Nice touch, though not clearly explained.

Dash - yeah, wheel has to come off. Problem is, getting the dash off after that is still a complete pain. Even totally disconnected. There must be an easier way than what I just did.

Wheel comes off easily, and so do barb fittings, at least.

I have found it easier to remove the dash panel by adjusting the steering wheel tilt setting from highest to lowest (or vice-versa). I think I also had to spin the panel 180 degrees to find the one and only spot where I could remove it.
