B3030 gets it done! (backhoe carry 22’ log on side)

Was a little tippy but I got it on the car trailer.
Redwood, 22 feet long, headed for my bandsaw mill...

I didn't like the tongue weight so I had to cut it in half, (dangit).

That's one neat way to carry a log like that! Another use for a BH....
Too bad you had to cut it.

Was there any other short logs that you could have loaded ahead of the tailer axles to balance the overhang? I have done that to help on the tongue weight. Jon

I like it - very clever !! A little tippy you say - I bet you were leaning left That should make some nice lumber.

I have used a similar method with my L3010. Pick up one end and back under. Then push it up.

There are several log weight calculator charts available on the internet.

Example - log species...coastal redwood... average diameter - 20"... length - 22'... estimated weight - 2400#.

I use a log weight chart when handling my big 'ol Ponderosa pines.

And I must say - a most interesting way of moving a long log.

Redwood 2nd growth 19”, 15”, 22ft 1300lbs.
It felt like more.
Anyway if thats true I bet I could carry about 25% more.
B3030 is only one step up from the smallest size Kubota.

Agreed it wouldn’t take much to weight the trailer but I thought I’d be cutting 10footers anyway.
