Same issue here!
I've been using 2 of those pocket flat-bladed mechanic's screwdrivers-you know the type your local tech has in his pocket,the free ones.
They sre thin enough to go between the dipstick and the axle housing.
One on each side of the dipstick and it wiggles right out.
I also lube the o-ring.
They are a tight fit-I normally thunk it with a plastic hammer to reseat.
