This is my first tractor and I thought I knew how the 3pt hitch worked, but now I'm beginning to think I don't.

When I use the rotary cutter, I lift the front of the deck up with the hand control lever to almost level with the back of the deck. It seems to work fine like that except that the front of the cutter deck gradually starts lowering. The result is the front of the deck starts dragging the ground and I have to bump up the 3pt hitch with the control handle lever every couple of minutes. Is that normal? Or am I not setting the linkages up correctly initially so the cutter deck does not gradually lower on its own?

Any help is appreciated,
Howard

You could try closing the 3-pt hitch rate valve (knob under seat) once you have the position set where you want it. Or use check chains.

Since the B2920 doesn't have position control on the 3-pt, it will drift down over time.

On tractors with 3 point lift drift problems, I have used a chain from the implement lift pins to the tractor toplink bracket to restrict downward movement of the implement. Ken Sweet

Thanks for the replies. I guess I need to add a chain to keep it from drifting downward.

Thanks again for the help,
Howard
