the loader runs up fine but on the down it is slow.

Welcome to TBN
The MOST common cause of problems like that are QD's (quick disconnects). Before doing anything else, unplug them all and then reconnect them. Also make sure the joystick linkage is lubricated and moving freely from lock-to-lock.

Remove metal cover over linkage and check that linkage does not have any loose screws.
