Kubota L3130HST 4WD, BX2350
I'm not very familiar with the Kubota B series tractors.. I have an L myself.. but my brother is considering a Kubota and asked me what the difference was between the B2910 and the B7800. They look almost identical and the specs on the two are very similar.. although, he says, the 7800 is much cheaper in price.

Anyone know what the nuances are?

The advertised differences are: tilt steering, better seat, cruise control, and 3pt hookup improvements (very nice). I have noticed the headlights are different and there is alot more in the way of trim panels (for lack of another term). For example, if you are sitting on the tractor and look down to the side of the seat (past the various controls) you will see the ground on the 7800 and will see trim panels that cover the openings on the 2910. Past those things, I am not sure. I have seen price differences listed as low as 1,000 and as much as 2,000 for the two models equipped the same. One other: the mid-PTO is standard on the 2910 and optional on the 7800.

Before I bought my L3130, I had, over the past two years, looked at the L3000DT and the L3010. Comparing those two models was similar to your comparison of these B series tractors.. the 3000 was bare bones.. but pretty much up to the same tasks as the 3010. The 3130 really changed my mind for good because of it's improvement in physical ability.. especially the ability to use the 723 loader!

In addition to what the others have said, position control on the B2910 vs. quarter inching valve on the B7800. Basically the same chassis and power; more bells and whistles on the 2910. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif And sometimes for some people those features are worth a lot; other times and other folks, maybe not.

am sure it is cheaper in price, but the 2910 does have a few more comfort features, as BIRD stated, to some folks they are worth the extra$$$ to some they are not. my b2400 has PC AND CRUISE CONTROL do i use them a lot ? NOPE, but when i do need them it it nice to have them. all a matter of personal preference. beleive it or not , ones age , sometimes is the deciding factor. u can put up with a lot of stuff when u are younger , but like the bell& whistles when u get older. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I would like to thank Bird and Frank for all their replies and offerred opinions to many posts. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I have never owned a tractor and this is my first post. I have been shopping for a Kubota for a while. My wife thought the BX2200 was a tad small for the price and gave me the OK to get something bigger. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I have concluded that the B2910 is the way to go for me. The comfort features appear to be well worth the extra price between the B2710 and B2910, in my case $1000. What sold me was the cruise control feature that slides for variable speeds. And it is nicely placed for easy hand operation. Also the seat w/ arm rest. I am all about comfort and willing to pay for it. The B7800 is very cost effective and it sells fast. My dealer had 9 on back order, none stay very long in the lot. After reading the bulletins on TBN, I believe I made a good choice. Spend more for comfort and features.

I offerred $18500 for the B2910 w/ 60 MMM and FEL. I think that's a good deal. Any thoughts on the price? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif Still waiting to hear from the owner.

Mid-mount mowers are expensive so I think if you get a B2910 with that and the FEL, that's a good deal.

James,

What Bird said. It is a good deal.

I just got a 7800 it is the version with cruise control and foldable rops and mid pto. there are two differrent 7800 s I found out. I thought the price was good compared to the 2910 which has a fancier seat tilt wheel and three point is easier to hookup. I got the better 7800 with 402 loader no bucket Im using a bob tach on the loader and a bobcat bucket I already have much better bucket than kubota. With the bob tach you can hook up to almost anything. I also got the 60 inch mower. At under 18.000 I thought it was a good deal. The 2910 was about 22,000 with the same stuff and I think the 7800 will be produced longer because its new helping out with trade in or resale value.

I realize there is a 7800 with foldable rops and mid-pto. I did not know cruise was included or even an option.
