B2630 50 Hours Service Time

I am getting ready to do my 50+ hour service on my 2630 as well Dave. I bought SUDT at Tractor Supply. They were running a deal on it at the time. I bought a metal funnel to reach the fill port, works great.

Now to just find time to drain all the fluids....

Hey Tyler - good to hear from you. What type of SUDT fluid did you buy from TSC ? I understand that there is some disagreement on whether anything other than Kubota SUDT should be used...

Ah.... nope. You couldn't have bought SUDT at TSC. :D

Just a few of my opinions... I would change the hydraulic fluid regardless of what the recommendation is. I would use SUDT as that is factory fill. It may cost a little more than something off the shelf at TSC but you don't have to change it out very often. I wouldn't bother with the fuel and air filters if you are only around 50 hours. You could inspect the outer air filter but with that low of hours all should be well. I completely agree with a previous poster that I wouldn't attempt to clean them. Fuel filters are cheap. There is a good chance you will do more harm than good cleaning an air filter. That guide Messick's has is a real nice reference. Good to see dealers putting stuff like that together for customers. Have fun!

I do most of my own maintenance. Get all the proper tools like filter wrenches, funnels, drain pans and the like and make sure everything fits where you want it too. If it's your first go round, give yourself plenty of time and relax. If you follow the book step by step it easier than you think and very satisfying to work on your own stuff. I keep old throw rugs around to lay on while I'm on the floor and carboard to put under the tractor, just in case. Clean around any caps or plugs to keep stray stuff from getting into the engine. I magic marker the dates changed on all my filters with the hours as well as keep it logged right in the owners manual. Quick reference right on the tractor. Wipe everything down when you're done so you know if it's a leak and not just a drip from the change. With the money you save, go buy some nice tools to make the next time even easier.

Enjoy!

I went out and looked at the oil. You're right, not SUDT. I asked the associate for SUDT and he handed me the bucket. It stated that it meets Kubota UDT and Kubota Transhydraulic recommendations. Not the SUDT. Darn.

Do yourself a favor and take the bucket back to TSC on your next trip past the store. Stop by a Kubota dealership and get the real thing.

Too late, already used some. I am working on making an order online with SUDT included in the shopping cart.

How much SUDT does the B2630 take ? I think the manual said 16 quarts (4 gallons) but I saw a reference online that says 4.76 gallons.

Also, what type/viscosity of engine oil are you guys using ?

Thanks !

Dave

Your manual will have your re-fill capacities.

As for oil, folks here are all over the map. Kubota 10w-30 is popular, but more popular is Rotella T6 5w-40 synthetic. At only $19 a gallon at WalMart, it's easy to see why so many guys like it.

I think you'll find similar preferences for Mobil products too.
