B2620 Back Hoe removal and Re attach. How difficult?

Boakly, right on. I put my BX 25 BH on and off a lot. Don't have a dolly but a good gravel lot. Biggest problem was sagging of the hydraulics from setting awhile. Now I block up everything with timber blocks so when the fluid equalizes it is setting up solid in same posistion as when unhooked. A little juggling of the outrigger after hoses hooked gets teh upper pins lined up and they push right in. I keep the pins well lubricated w/90W oil. Yep, easier than installing the 3 PT which problem I am working on. I think I have a toolless hookup and adjustment scheme figured out. Stand by for info later this winter when back in the shop on fabs.

Let me just add - make sure your hydro pressure is right. I've had to run cool water over the hydro lines because of pressure build up on a warm day. Tried getting the ball pushed in a little but couldn't safely manage that, was apprehensive I'd scratch the ball. Have also just let it wait till morning.
My BH70X has long enough lines that I don't have a big problem with lines being too short, but I could see that as a real problem.

Its very easy. I do it constantly, sometimes several times per day. Its a minute or two job. If i need to put the 3pt on that takes 5 mins additional. I built a dolly http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/kubota-owning-operating/236155-bh65-backhoe-dolly-build.html and it helps tremendously. I just wheel the bh up, hook up hoses, push it into position, lift the boom, pop in the pins and im done.

One word of caution is that the pins may be stiff or need small hammer at first because the paint makes them a tough fit. It gets easier as they wear a bit. For the 3 pt make sure to lube the round bar on the bottom and move it before long on that new tractor. If it seizes into place its a huge pain to free (took me 2 days the first time and now it moves easily by hand).

X2 on that... everytime I am near the tractor with any type of lube / grease that shaft gets a hit. Mine does not move by hand but a small screwdriver and nail (for in the end holes for some purchase) is all thats needed now to lightly pry it back and forth.

Sure beats having to take the tires off and using a large hammer / punch like I had to do when I first got the new tractor!!

I have a l3430 and a backhoe attachment , I've taken it off and on several times, as a matter a fact just yesterday i took off my 3 pt hitch ( about 30 mins) and put on the backhoe( about 30 mins), I don't have any dolly , mine sits on concrete blocks caps to keep it off the dirt , I back up to it lining it up , get it within 3-4 inches then stop and hook up the hydraulics ( outriggers) and use that to move it up and down ,once it in the hook I use the bucket to roll it where i can put the pins in , id advise a light coat of grease and patience lining them up Oh BTW I have the wife driving the tractor and backing it up so i make sure i hadn't pissed her off in the last day or 2 while im back there

I found a railroad spike works well too, it took a LOT of penetrating oil and banging to losen it the first time because the 3 pt had never been used. I was happy i didn't need to remove a loaded tire to get it!

I tried using the book 1st time because the ...... put the pins in from the out side dark -22 had to remove the back wheels after that taking off and one not too bad getting the pins to move is a bit of a chalenge even with no sieze on them .but once they start to move can take them out by hand .because of uneven ground a 2x4 and a small jack makes it easy to put back on

I have been wondering how hard it would be to take my sub frame mounted back hoe off my tractor. I have had no need to take it off yet. And the weight helps when I am moving snow. But after reading this thread it makes me want to try it. I will give it a try, but probably wait until spring now. Snow is on the way. Only got a 1/2" today though. The Hoe with the mechanical thumb is so handy I see no reason to take it off unless I need to. Thanks for posting the pics and ideas though guys. That gives me a good idea of how to go about doing it. Good post and thread JohnThomas. Boakley, your post reminded me of when my father taught me the use of leverage around machines and equipment. That is using your head.

The one thing I don't have to worry about is removal of three point hitch arms with the woods set up, which I think is something you will need to do with kubota backhoe.

maximus1277,

I seem to remember something about this--you saying that the Woods backhoe allows you to leave the TPH in place, while the backhoe is installed?

And, if so, do you do this? Because I would think that, if one were, perhaps, in rougher terrain, the hitch could get damaged, if it were left in place?

Any insight will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

JT not to worry it's real easy and you can do it real easily. level ground and go slow once you do it you'll say it was easy too. I use to take my BH76 off my B3200 all the time, same as BX23, just a bit bigger.
