I am Chappell all the way, people complain about their prices, but they are what they are, and others may be close, but look what Chappell provides....excellent service. I am 4th generation customer....and I appreciate when they greet me by my 1st name and provide that level of service a farmer, contractor, and homeowner needs. Just like any other Kubota dealer should be. Good luck with your B26, I would be jonesing something fierce and pissed at my dealer with your situation!!

I don't have a firm return date on my tractor. I ordered a narrow trenching bucket the day I dropped it off and they received that in a few days, but the wiring harness and switches seem to be taking considerably longer. I'm in a bit of a difficult position. I took the Tractor to Chappell in Milford because I like their service and I thought I was just going to need a new switch. Now it has turned into some fairly extensive warranty work - and they're not the people I bought the tractor from. I was looking (drooling) over the Laurin cabs. I sent them an e-mail asking how I could get one but I haven't heard back. I imagine it may be a bit difficult to aquire since the company is in Canada. Maybe I should have written in french!? Do you know if they are readily available to us southerners?

Yes, the Laurin cab should be readily available, but they do not sell direct. You have to purchase it through a dealer. Sounds like they'll pretty much set up any dealer to sell their cabs, even if they've never dealt with Laurin in the past.

I'm surprised you haven't gotten a reply - I've gotten responses to questions pretty quickly from them. They must be French Canadians because their English is a bit off. But they will let you know what the availability of a cab for your machine is, and if they have one ready, they'll tell you to have your dealer contact them so they can get it right out.

BTW, your b26 actually came from Chappell to MB as Chappell is the regional distrubutor for Kubota. Make sure you tell Kubota about your service problem and how unhappy you are from the dealer you bought your machine. Tell Chappell to put one of their stickers on it.......may help you in the future if you have to bring it back! Let us know how much the cabs are, I am interested in one myself for a L48.

Now thats interesting. How the heck is it MB beats Chappell on price then?

Finally yesterday they said that they had to replace the wiring harness because some of the wires were "overheating". Of course, the harness has to be ordered.

Interesting. Fuses are there to protect the wiring from over heating. Ask them if they have any idea why the wires burned and a fuse didn't blow.

Each dealer has its own pricing flexibility....within reason as there isn't much wiggle room to begin with due to factory prices and competition keeping things in line. Everytime I buy something I call MB..and they have been higher....but I also have a long relationship with Chappell and they know I am very price sensitive and I know what I am talking about (ie prices, competition, used machines, new models...). It would have to be way out of the park higher for me to go to MB as I feel my relationship with Chappell is worth what I pay for machines and more.

That's a good point about the fuses protecting the wiring. In fact I checked and none of the fuses had blown so I don't know what to make of it. The main reason I purched my tractor from MB is that I was trading in a BX23 that I had bought there and they gave me a pretty good deal. Plus, I didn't know about Chappell at the time. Meanwhile on another front. I can't seem to get a response from the Laurin cab people. Since they haven't responed to several e-mails i tried calling them today. Unfortunately, I was greeted by a french speaking answering system and couldn't get beyond it. Dang, I'm such a loser!

I looked all through there literature and did not see anything listed for a B26. Can you give me an idea where in heck to locate it in there literature? Thanks in advance.:)

Haleluha, I got my tractor back. The mechanic showed me the wiring harness he had to replace. When he held it up it looked like a complete set of veins and arteries freshly yanked from a person. I guess it was a big job to remove and replace. There was one section that was totally corroded, melted and several strands were parted. Probably resembling my own arteries. In any event, the work was all done under warranty. Today I spent a few hours attacking the snowbanks that had been mocking me for the last few weeks.
I also decided to get a cab. Aparently Curtis does not make one for the B26, and the snobs at laurin won't have anything to do with me. I ordered one from Sims with hard sides and an enclosure for backhoe operation. It came to about $4,500 with shipping. I'll let you all know how the installation goes...

Glad you got your machine back.

Apparently, those French Canadians don't like you New Englanders. :D

Interesting about the Sims cab. When I priced one out for my machine, it came to something like $5700. Maybe I was loading it up with too many options. Come to think of it, I guess since you already have a canopy, that probably knocks a bit off the price.

Post some pics once you get the cab installed - I'd like to see how it looks. Do you plan on removing the doors for summer, or did you go with AC?

That much just to keep a little bad weather off of yourself. Some would say that is crazy as proper dress will do the same thing for a lot less.:D

I have to drive around to clear snow for a few houses in my neighborhood. Even at 12mph, the flying snow or slush from passing cars is really anoying. I have to bundle up like a snow bunny - including the goggles. Then the regular plow guys laugh at me from their warm dry pickup trucks and I end up flipping them over with my FEL. Its a real mess. I opted for a fan instead of A/C though. I'll probably take the doors off come summer.

If you can afford it, DO IT!!

Besides, it helps the economy.

Enjoy the cab Ken
