You will not be sorry.

I have about 312 hard hours on my L-39. I find that the L-39 could have more power, bigger rubber and another 1500 lbs, but I would NOT want a larger tractor, just heavier duty.

Weighted and outfitted without operator my L-39 weighs in at +8,100 to 8,300 lbs. This is a nice balance of heft and power. The hoe still moves the machine all over the place digging and I can still lift the machine out of the places I manage to get stuck.

I have been busy so I have not posted much.

Over the last 2 weeks 1500 yds of material went down in our road.
That's a lot of dump truck loads! At least the basement hole is roughed and the ridge is knocked down a few feet.

Sunday night we bounced down the road in my F-150 for the first time. 2 years in the making! Did it twice.

Next week I will spread & grade 110 tons of top coat. I should give lessons to our town hi-way department.

I estimate the L-39 spread and graded at least a third of the 1500 yards. I will post in the projects section as soon as I have a slack day.

Size and ability are a constant compromise. My little B7200 is loaned out digging a pool area and my wife wants it back for her garden.

When the B7200 dies, I will not blink in getting a similar sized machine. You can buy a lot of rakes hoes and shovels for the price of a tiny CUT, until you get the bill for one back surgery.

I hired out a lot of excavator work before decided to by an 18,000 lb Komatsu.

This should cut the hired out site work to only the real heavy earth moving.

Nice machine! That one would handle my pine stumps for sure! I dug out my first stump with my L39 today. I dug much deeper than I really needed to but I am learning this stump pulling job. That box in the wheel weight picture looked like a box for beagles. You rabbit hunt?

Best regards,

Sota

Box is for the neigbors smaller sled dogs. He has another metal transporter for the adults.

My wife has 1 horse,

3 Swiss mountain dogs, w/ 11 puupies

11 Chickens,

2 peacocks,

3 ducks,

1 African grey parrot.

She plans on goats, pigs.
bees, and god knows what else.

A mutt from the pound is all I need.

Mike - I noticed you have a ball hitch on the front end of your L39, what is the setup for installing/attaching that? Have I missed noticing an existing receiver there? I need to take a look tonight. I could really use that for moving my trailer around.

BTW - So far I'm very impressed with my L39, have 75 hours on it. I would not want a smaller machine for my uses. Still getting used to the GST since all my prior experience was HST, but the more I use it the less "noticeable" the GST becomes.

I am pushing my luck with the goverment work I get out our shop.

I added a small weight block, two wings to protect front end and a reciever hitch to the grill guard about 2 years ago. I have found old photo's and posted them.

Sota-

I have not doubt that you made the right choice. Given the significant lift capacity, horsepower, BH digging depth etc, the L39 comes across as a much better value (even with the extra weight)

Thanks for the photo's. Your hitch and wings look real nice. I welded a hook on each of my Backhoe buckets today so I could attach a Gradeblade "squeegee blade" and a "crumbing blade" purchased from this site Hall's Dirt Squeegee Blade - All Steel - 100% American Made. They are good heavy duty pieces and come with everything you need to hook them up. My welding needs alot of practice (wouldn't dare post pics of my welds!) :D

Just want to add that I really enjoy all the pics you post of your projects around the "house-to-be"! I wonder if the L39 is going to see alot less seat time with the PC75 around?!

That is a pretty interesting addition to the backhoe. I hope you will start a tread and share your impressions after you use it some.
