chains, tow-strap material webbing, and a clevis have never failed me, just a bit more work. Rocks are another story, but I used to compete in national weight lifting competitions, so I always do things the hard way. Moving stumps though, chain will be a good friend, and its not really that much work, just a wrap or two and ur good to go.

Can't offer you first hand advice on the thumbs, but Im sure that both would work, just one would be easier (and cost more too).

I never knew there were mechanical thumbs, but I figured as much because if I could think the idea up, some one else thought it up before me and already got rich off it. Funny storry, I thought up putting coffee into tea bags and such, always seemed like a good idea to me, and what do you know, now they have them, and im still not rich.

Mike,

My L39 with 460 hours has taken a beating. The front "guard" is totally bashed in and bent, the grill is punctured, the hood is dented and the front it crushed a bit, the bucket quick attach points on one lever are ripped off, and various other problems.......However, it still rocks and rolls. I'm still amazed at how powerful the hoe is.

Thanks for all the participation. I'm getting addicted to this forum stuff.

On the thumb topic. Do either the mechanical or hyd. thumb get in the way when you need to just use the bucket? Can you just pop the thumb off? If so, would the bracket interfer any or get damaged? May seem like a dumb questions but I'm a thumb rookie.

Was going to post some pics of some project areas but it's pouring out. I'll do it later if it let's up.

Jim - Good to hear you have beat her pretty good and she's still tickin'. I tend to be hard on things. One of the reasons I'm thinkin' I better go construction grade equipment.

One more thing. I thought I saw in a thread where some got 0% for 36 months on an L39 in May of this year? I talked to a dealer today who said the L39 was excluded. I checked it out at kubota.com at he was correct. "36 Months
**(Instant Rebates
Not Applicable) 0.00%**
New Kubota: BX, B, L, M, Z, CE
(Except ZG, ZD300, B26, L39/L48, MX5000, M4800, M96, M108, KX080-3)"
Do you think after the 6/30 deadline that there will be more favorable rates on the construction equipment? My thinking is maybe this is a time when construction purchases are more frequent so they don't include them (kinda a supply/demand thing). Am I off base?

12 more months and its paid off!. God, I hope it does not have as much damage ans Jim's!

My worst damage is all those rocks dinging the stabilizer's chrome rods. I try to buff down the high spots to save the seals, no really bad ones so far.

L39 is starting to earn its keep!
