b2400 steering slack

my b2400 has about 1/4 turn of slack in the steering wheel. any ideas where the slack come from or how to remove it? Thanks

The power steering unit is bolted to the tractor. Any chance the bolts are loose?

Ok. Finally got around to looking at it.

The nit on the linkage is loose. When I put a wrench on it, the whole ball joint spins. I don't see a way to hold the joint while tightening the nut.

Try prying up or down with something between the pivot arm and ball joint end. In order to tighten up the ball in the socket so it does not spin. Additionally the threads may be rusty and the bolt slightly seized in place,,, soak the threads in some solvent like PB Blaster.

thanks for the reply. I gave it a shot this morning and got it to snug up a good bit. Then spent about 6 hrs mowing. Easer to do without all that slack.

Some times a simple fix works the best. Glad ya got back to mowing in full control.
