Kubota B2320
All,

I have a B2320 with 60 in. deck. Does anyone know if they make a mulch kit for this deck. If so, does anyone have one? Does it work well? I haven't called my dealer yet and just thought I would throw the question out there.

Thanks.

Funny you mention this, The company I work for has a 2620 and I noticed (from a distance) what appeared to be a cap installed on the deck discharge. It was kubota orange and looked factory. I suspect Kubota does offer them.

Thanks,
Steve

I looked into one for my BX. If I remember correctly, it was over $200.

Probably includes the mulching blades and the discharge plug. I would get the mulching blades for around 90 bucks and put a piece of pulled steel over the discharge.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I bought another spare set of blades when I purchased my mower. I like to have a set of sharpened blades to change out when I clean my deck. I never used to mulch with my 48 inch riding mower but with my 2320 a lot of grass gets discharged and it doesn't get chopped up very well. I don't think it is worth $300 to buy a discharge plug and two sets of mulching blades. I may take your advice and see what I can rig up. I might just see what it looks like if I keep my current blades and just plug the discharge. Thanks for letting me know that you have seen them around though. I am still going to check with the dealer on price just to be sure.

I fold up the thingy at the discharge chute and that way the grass gets spread over a wide area. No clumps of clippings laying around. I only fold that thing down when I actually want to collect large amount of grass for my compost pile. Just blow the clipping into windrows and it is very easy to rake that up.

That is what I am currently doing also. It does help spread it out. Also, the flap is pretty large so it is hard to get close to anything with that side of the mower if I don't fold it up. The bad part about this is that it doesn't prevent a rock or stick being thrown into a window or something like that.

From my understanding, the mulching adapter is a lot more than just blades and a block off plate. I believe it also includes internal baffles to keep each blade separated (somewhat).

I just talked with my dealer and he said that there isn't a mulch kit available for my deck. I gueess I will just tinker with it to see what I can do. It isn't a big deal. I just it chopped the grass up a little finer.

mcrame01,

If you come up with a solution please post here about the details. I think there would be several of us interested in the mulching ideas.

Will do. It will probably be spring before I look into it. I have to stop thinking about mowing now and start preparing for snow removal. Time to go buy a blade:)

BrianW is correct, at least for the BX2200 mulch kit. I bought it and it included mulching blades and a large steel plate that you bolt under your deck with about 10 5/16th bolts. That plate also blocks the discharge chute. At $250, I'd not buy it again.

For me, it did a nice job, but I needed to switch from full discharge to mulching, and it was just a PIA to change all the time. I built a metal plate to cover the opening, and just changed it out when I needed to mulch.

Worked fine; haven't had the mulch kit on since.

I know what you mean about the snow. I don't intend to put the mowing deck back on until next May.

Did you leave the mulching blades on the deck and than "plugged" the discharge? Do you by any chance have any pictures of the plate?

Easygo,

I left the non-mulching blades on. I was mowing slowly (small area), so maybe it wouldn't be satisfactory if you had a lot to mow and wanted to go fast.

No pics of the plate (mower is stored now), but it was 1/8" plate that cover the discharge opening. Then welded two tabs on it to bolt to the deck.
