If you have a Bxx20 series tractor, or equivalent, AND used the tractor without filled rear tires, and then filled them, what was your experience? Especially in high traction chores such as snow plowing? Are we talking an additional 400 lbs here, give or take?

I understand the ballast advantage, the stability advantage, etc. I am asking about traction specifically, and the ability to plunge the loader into a snow pile, kind of thing.

Important to have had experience With and Without the filling. The comparison is what I asking about here. Can I get a witness?

Well- its not a B series but a BX. I had both unfilled and filled. It was delivered to me unfilled and I used it nearly 2 years without filling tires. After filling the tires, I loved it. better traction, I can use more power at lower speed instead of high speed to "ram in" to cut in dirt, snow, etc. I am sure you noticed the same with your tractor with and without weights on your old BX. I would imagine its the same with B series.

radioman, I sure did. Honestly though, I have a hunch the change might be even more dramatic with this B.

Yeah, I had them unfilled at first (b2620). I like the way it feels better with them filled (rimguard) - less bounce, more stability when pushing snow. I was able to pick up a rear tire when lifting a lot of wet snow or dirt/gravel and just a rear blade on before. That never happens now. Traction is just as good or better especially with chains on ice or snow. With a ballast box as well (or a heavy implement if you have one) the thing has some pretty good mass for a small tractor. You can also go just the ballast box alone route and that works pretty good but if you want to work with something lighter than 500 lbs on the back and the loader on the front I think you really need the tires filled as well. It's just safer when using the loader.

I think the R4's end up weighing somewhere around 300 lbs apiece with rimguard if I remember what the dealer told me correctly. One of the down sides for me (besides trying to take them on or off) is that they will compact soft ground so you do need to be careful about that. You can't just drop the weight like a ballast box or heavy implement.

Used B3030 for couple months, then filled with Rimguard. Made a difference for the better for me. Can't tell that it compacts the soft ground that much with the turfs. Would recommend Rimguard.
