Sure will. It is 8:00 am here and I am expecting it to arrive around lunch time, so an early lunch for us I think so that I don't waste any seat time!

I will let you all know how it went and then post some pictures.

Well I got a call from the delivery company to say that the driver had run out of hours so couldn't get it to me today /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif, probably just as well as the weather has been poor and I wouldn't have had much seat time. It should be with me tomorrow late afternoon.

Why is not your dealer delievering the tractor? Why--that is very strange and if they do not deleiver should they not have a representative (mechanic or salesman) to show you the tractor, unload it and explain it to you. In North America this is a Kubota requirement and I had to sign a document stating this had been done and Kubota has followed up twice with me on each tractor to see if all was well with the tractors and sent out a survey form and even called and asked how the dealer treated me. Something is amiss with your situation I should think. Unloading machinery could be dangerous off the back of a freight liner. Gravity will take care of it but the results may not be as desired. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif .J

Oh, and I know you are excited, sounds like you cannot catch your breath, welcome to the club. Congrats on the new machine. You might want oxegen on hand and the cure for hypervenelation is a brown paper bag over the mouth and nostrils, breath man, breath. J

TresCrows

The dealer I bought it from is not a Kubota franchised dealer but a dealer in all makes - mainly ag type - tractors. They could deliver up here but it wouldn't be easy for them so I arranged for a company which is based up here in the north to collect it. They were recommended to me by a car delivery company as that is the type of work they do. As they are making several other stops on the journey the driver just ran out of hours and has to have a 24 hour break.

When I was arranging the delivery company I explained the situation and said that it needed to be loaded on a low trailer so I have confidence - well reasonable confidence /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif - that it will be okay.

I spent months calling the Kubota dealers round the country but there were just no suitable used compacts available. Over here compact tractors only have a small market share. I was lucky to pick up a trader magazine and see a Kubota B1250 advertised. I realised that it was more than likely a misprint so gave them a call and asked them what model it was, it was then he told me - as I suspected - that it was a B2150 with hydro trans.

I am looking forward to finally seeing my purchase and trying it out. I will keep you posted, that is if my wife can get me out of the seat once it arrives /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif.

TresCrows,
I bought both of my Kubotas from private individuals, so I've obviously never had the "training" that you describe.

I was wondering though: Even in America, is that training required for USED tractors (Kubota or otherwise)?

Dave41,
(By the way, nice description Kelvin.)

Thanks. It must be part of my engineering background (you can appreciate that since you are an engineer as well...).

Kelvin, the "training" is not required by law or anything like that as I am aware--it is that Kubota wants it's customers to be familiar with the machine and it's operation. I supect a used Kubota from my dealer would get a similar briefing but maybe not. The form I signed if that is what you are asking about was a dealer preperation sheet and my signature was agreement that the tractor was in proper service and was delievered in good shape with fuel ready for work. When I picked up my Toyota they had a similar dealer satisfaction form. I think this is all about deleivering a well prepared tractor to a satisfied customer. All the quality in the world will not help if the dealer drops it off low on fluids, mower deck crooked, no manuals and no introduction to the machine--makes sense to me but maybe not to you. J

I hadn't put much thought into the situation (and still haven't...), but your comments about the training did get me to wondering about the situation.

I also wonder what kind of training you get when you order a tractor from Carver. Seems like Carver customers may have talked about it before on this board.

Re: B2150 HST arrived!

Well guys it is finally here! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif. All my worries were completely unfounded as the delivery driver – normally delivers cars including Jaguars – had driven tractors and other machines in the past. He drove it off the trailer and then gave me a quick demonstration of the controls as well as a few safety tips.

I found out from Kubota that it was manufactured February 1991 and the full spec is: HST, 4wd with bi-speed turn, ag tyres, LA350 FEL, KM190 BH with 16 and 8 inch buckets. There were also the manuals which I didn’t expect, wonder if I can cancel the one I ordered /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif. It has just over 1000 hours and runs really well. The condition is as good as the dealer said it was. I drove it half a mile as that is the nearest the driver could get the truck.

As it was raining /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif I didn’t stay out on it, just parked it round the back of the house so that I could look at it through the window /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif. I am very pleased with my purchase and can’t wait to get in some seat time.

I would like to thank you all once again for the time and trouble you have taken to help me out /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif.
