B1550 FEL / Have to remove the deck???

My freind told me that to use a FEL with his 1550, he has to remove the deck. Is this true and unavoidable? If it is, he will want to step in to a more adaptable machine (a BX perhaps /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
Any advice is appreciated.

Even if you CAN use your FEL with the MMM installed, it's generally not a good idea unless it's for lightweight work like moving a little multch and the like. The deck seriously compromises your mobility in rough ground and can also get caught on "stuff" as your shuffling whatever you're moving with the loader around. It only takes a few minutes to remove or install most MMM these days, especially if the FEL is on the machine to help you out with a little extra ground clearance to pull the beast out from under the tractor or slide it back underneath.

I had a 1750, the big brother of the 1550. And while it was not necessary to remove the mmm when using the FEL, I always did out of fear of getting it caught on something and tweaking that relatively delicate mower lifting thingy.

Removing the mmm deck on those little guys is a no brainer. Took me 2 minutes...and I'm mechanically bankrupt. After disconnecting, I could lift the tractor with the FEL and slide the mower out from underneath or, like the manual says, just back up and let the front wheels drive right over the mower deck.
