As a follow up to " Block heater location", which was started about a month ago here at TBN, I'd
like to submit these pictures which should leave no further doubt about a typical B series installation.

First pix ..shows the parts laid out before assembly. (Heater kit #73274) as ordered from Tractorsmart. ........ ( $30.15 plus $5 S&H ) ...RayBee

Second Pix ..... Shows the Kubota threaded plug removed (hex 17 mm). A warmed engine
beforehand, will make it's removal easier. (Don't forget to drain coolant from engine block beforehand)

Fifth Pix .... Finally the electric cord plugs into heater and is secured by a captive nut to insure that it won't loosen from engine vibration. My install was on a B2710, and I chose this cord position, but you may rotate/tighten the heater more or less to adjust where the cord fits your needs. (Don't forget to replace your coolant, before starting tractor.)

NY-Yankees-Fan:
I tried removing the 17mm plug with a 1/2 in. drive breaker bar, and a cold engine, it would'nt budge. I warmed the engine to operating temp.
and used the same tools but added a short 24-28 in. cheater pipe and
it moved easily with steady pressure applied. Be sure you get a 1/2in
drive socket. (3/8in will break) /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif ...RayBee

Raybee,

Good follow up to the original thread! Thanks for the post. Now I can see what my dealer did to get that done. If your weather has been anything like ours lately, you'll appreciate the addition really soon!!! I've used the heater a lot!!!

Thanks,
Kevin

RayBee,

Thanks for the post. I've got a B2910 without a block heater. When the snow starts falling, I have 2 magnetic mount heaters, I put one under the oil pan and another back under the hydro unit. So far, it seems to work well, but getting down on my knees to put the heaters on is a bit of a pain. (Boy, does that sound like "whining" or what? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif) Anyway, I'm sure the block mounted heater is much better than the magnetic mount.

I'll be changing the coolant this summer and I think I'll put the engine block heater in. I'm encouraged by your pics.

Thanks,

Rick

I too have used the magnetic mount heater on the oil pan, and found
that it was very inconvenient to use. My general slant on things is to keep it as simple as possible. I like the newly installed heater and I'm
sure the Kub likes the toasty warm oil & the easier startup. I also understand there are alternatives, but this works for me and I offered
this info. for those who might want to consider doing it themselves. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks, Kevin but I feel it was a concerted collaboration on all our part.
The info that was stirred up by the original post last month will benefit
all of us that own a Bseries . Thanks for your input /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ...RayBee

Nice presentation, RayBee!

I had one installed when my 2910 went back for a warantee repair...but had that not happened I would likely be following your lead.

RayBee,
Thanks for the great pics. I never did install the heater in my b2150. I could not get comfortable about eliminating that second radiator hose. Could you tell from your install what the hose (below the plug) was for?

I admit that the hose has me puzzled, also. I thought of your dilema as
I opened the box and found the extra hose clamp and steel tube to insert
into the hose. I looked at my hose and it led to the bottom of the radiator,
as yours does and seems to be an expansion relief, but I'm not certain .
Sorry I wasn't more help. If KubMech reads this post he probably can shed
some light. ...Raybee /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I looked at the schematic for my tractor and the hose in question is called
a drain hose. It attaches along with the drain hose on the radiator to a
common plastic drain cock and I think it's purpose is to drain the engine
block when you change coolant. So maybe if you clamp it off you merely
have to work around when draining the block. ..RayBee

RayBee,
Thanks for looking, I'll go check for the drain tonight.

Hello Kevin and RayBee,
Any chance you guys know what block heater goes in the BX2200 and a good place to order it from??
Thanks,
Ralph
P.S. I think my wife thinks I am getting too many ideas from everyone at TBN, anybody else get this from their wives???? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ralph: ...Off hand I don't know which fits your BX. If you go to http://www.tractorsmart.com/ and enter your specifics they will get back to
you shortly with part nos. and price w/S&H. I found them to be a good
company to deal with. You can also get a parts manual for your tractor
free of charge & delivered to your email just for the asking. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ..RayBee
