Tractor
CCY SC2450
I work at a local feed and OPE store. When my sister and father decided to go in on a compact tractor, I steered them to CCY since that's what the dealer I work at sells. I'd rather not drive 1.5 hours to buy parts and supplies for a Kubota, Case or Mahindra. It took some arm twisting, but I got them to buy a SC2450 over the BX25. We had one in stock, and it was made just a few months ago, so no dry rotting tie rod ends from sitting in the sun for a year.

Credit app approved, we took the SC2450 minus the mm60rse and 3-point hitch, which were ordered at that time. It's been three weeks and my boss doesn't know where the deck and hitch are. I've asked every week so far, and today I asked three times. He left without any sort of answer for me. I'm thinking maybe there ARE no mm60rse decks left to be had! I can't call MTD, i'd end up in an endless "computer aided" loop on the consumer line, and if I call the dealer line, boss might get wind I was checking up on him.

The decks are pure MTD, part numbers are the same format as the rest of their stuff. The Yanmar parts are all prefaced by "CY", and bagged in "Yanmar" printed baggies. There shouldn't be any problem with making another mm60rse. I know that to continue selling Yanmar parts, each dealer will have to sign on with Yanmar. Before intimating that I was interested in a CCY tractor, I asked and was told there was a 90% chance this dealer would be doing so.

So far, we love the BH and FEL, i've got a whole years worth of attachments planned out. Suffice it to say, that without the mower and 3-point, none of us want the tractor. I know CCY has quite a lengthy satisfaction guarantee, but if I need to use that, i'd rather get it out of the way quickly. We've already put 12 hours on since purchasing the tractor.

So how about it? Anyone able to find out about CCY attachments, or should I chance the dealer's hotline?

I would get your sister and/or father to call in to the dealer and have them be "the bad cop" and raise a little heck... or are you tied into their purchase?

When my wife's southern charm doesn't work... she lets my New York attitude get their attention!!!

They know its a family purchase. My sister was the impetus for the purchase, she had 10 apple trees, 6 grape vines to plant, a fence to put in and was seriously thinking of renting a mini-ex before spying the BX25 at the fair. I had to do a fair bit of behind the scenes work to get her into the CCY. If the deck is NLA, I figure she'll never take my recommendations seriously again.

I know my sister could be more persuasive than I could, but we're already sold, so there shouldn't need to be any annoyed customer calls at all.

I think that deck may be hard to get. CCY ended their contract and parted ways. So the luck of getting an MTD deck for that tractor will be very slim as they officially parted ways on September 1st. Yanmar is taking over everything involving the tractors, maybe they will be able to get you a deck. As far as Cub Cadet/MTD go on the deck I am sorry to say it will not be easy, this is likely why it hasnt shown up. :( Hope you can get it all sorted out. :)

I really think this might be the case. I'm considering that the boss really isn't following up with me, yet he's always on me about the importance of doing so. I'll press the issue again tomorrow, i'd like to get everything sorted before winter, since it would be dumb to buy a snow push for a CCY without knowing i'd be keeping it.

earljr59 - I'll look it up tomorrow. The CCY stuff has all the manuals available in our parts program. Some of them have manufacturers listed.

Since CCY have parted ways, will your dealership sell the new Yanmar tractors when the CCY inventory runs out?

That is up in the air. I asked after the announcement, before mentioning that my sister was interested in a SC2450 sized tractor, and the answer was that the dealer was 90% sure they were signing up with Yanmar.

Confirmed, deck NLA from MTD. I called parts this morning on my own. I got a number at Yanmar to call. This isn't looking up, which is too bad, because I really like the tractor so far.

This is a very unfortunate situation. I imagine that at least some of your boss's apparent reluctance to help out is due to his frustration over the current state of affairs and probably his lack of knowing what to do. Still, I don't think he is setting a good example by not rolling up his sleeves and getting involved on behalf of his customers, even if one happens to be an employee of his. Frankly, it is the willingness of a dealer to get involved when things get rough that separates the men from the boys.

I think you are at a stage where you need to make as much noise as possible with everyone involved. If you have to threaten to send the tractor back due to poor satisfaction I think the sooner you do it the better your chances are of getting resolution to your problem. If the equipment options you are missing were still offered at the time of your purchase then you have every right to demand that you get what you paid for.

I don't think you would be harming your relationship with your boss at this point if you threaten to invoke the satisfaction guarantee since he is probably out of the equation regarding getting the equipment for you. He might actually be relieved if you find resolution directly which would get him off the hook.

The longer you wait on this the harder it is going to be later. If you need to threaten the manufacturer(s) that back the satisfaction guarantee with legal action find a mean attorney to write a letter for you. You sound like a nice guy and are probably concerned about not making waves, but letting this slide will only make things worse. If exercising your rights to satisfaction causes friction with your employer perhaps you need to question your long-term future with the company.

Good luck with this and let us know how it works out for you. There's no way you should be stuck with a tractor without the equipment it was marketed with available!

I spoke to the boss this morning, after calling MTD. Apparently this is a widespread thing. Out dealer association has sent out email saying MTD/Yanmar must honor existing dealers and orders. This might be a process. I'm going to grab a Z to mow the grass with next day off.

Have the territory reps looked around dealers for the attachments? I would think there would be some dealers with excess mower decks and other attachments? Just a thought.....

Good luck with it, and please let us know how it plays out!

Have I got this right? You work for a dealer and he sold your family a tractor that and he could not provide all you ordered, I would also guess paid for? Now he can't or will not step up to the plate and make it right? Sounds like refund time to me and might be time to go job hunting also in my opinion.

Eh, the purchase was made within a week of the announcement of the MTD/Yanmar split. I don't really place blame on the dealer. The territory rep has been called, no bare decks are available. He's working on it, just doesn't look good.

I checked it out yesterday. The parts are prefixed by YS-000-*****, which is in a MTD format, but i've never seen a 000 part for any other MTD product. The manuals for implements with 000 prefixed parts are only marked "Cub Cadet, MTD, Cleveland OH" whereas the backhoe is marked with with its manufacturer's name and address. The mm60rse parts are typical MTD numbers, the spindle is 917-*****, definitely MTD.

Sorry this isn't a real answer, but it's the best you're like to get without talking to someone in engineering.

Update - My boss has been working the issue the past two days. Today, the rep found out from my boss that the deck was NLA from Cub and he's "less than pleased" The rep is scouring the territory for a deck, until one can be found, we'll either get a Z or a loaner tractor to mow with. There's a big meeting between dealers and Yanmar very shortly. Regardless, parts and warranty coverage will be available at my place of employment.

earljr59 - I am told the CCY 3-point stuff is Befco. I have not independently verified this. e: If they're not made by Befco, they're really, really close copies judging by pictures.
