Not sure how much work your wanting....but to me... fall lawn renovation.....aeration and overseeding is decent to do. I can make $12 per 1,000 square feet. True green will get up to $16 to $17 dollars per square foot for aearation only. The equipment is expensive but your customers will see results either that fall or the next spring.

I have a new DR Stump grinder. Someone on here mentioned they are a pain....but I have not experienced that at all. It was much much easier to grind that stump than it was to cut down that tree and haul it off. No comparison. It has sharp teeth because it is new and it is mine, and I got the biggest motor that they sell for it....and it crushes the stumps....I mean destroys them...quickly....and I have a huge deep hole outside. I am grinding some stumps this weekend at a business associate's lake house this weekend.

$12 per 1000 square feet? What is your average stop? True green gets 16-17 per square foot or did you mean per 1000 square feet?

Per 1,000 square feet which equates to about $600-$800 per acre!!

What do you mean you average stop?

I figured you meant per thousand. When I read that True Green gets 16-17 per square foot some blood left my brain and went south. Is your average lawn a half acre or less?

I really only do it for friends and basically just trade up for work. I have done this for my attorney several times and he provided some lawyering for me...I did some for a golf course and a friends who is in the landscaping business...and some for my rental...but I don't advertise or anything.

One attachment I believed that could earn a decent income was a post hole digger as once a fence was done the owner would never need it again.

Proving my idea was valid in this neck of the woods is fact that now 2 guys are doing just that,
In their case they have a gas powered digger mounted on the back of a Honda 4 wheel ATV and trailer that around.
They have been at it for 3-4 years and still at it so it must be a good venture.

Looking at their rigs an knowing the cost of those ATV's The $ outlay must match a CUT and post hole attachement.

I get 75 percent of my work from a rotary mower. Post hole digger can be tough to do by yourself unless it is pretty level.

How much stuff do you get into when doing rough cut mowing for people? Like getting into old fence wire or stuff the land owner didn't tell you about?

That would be interesting to know, cause I still hit some things on my own place with short grass

Around here, guys making money with tractors are mainly doing brushhogging. Or have small backhoe attachments doing small jobs.

For new lawns, tractors just cannot compete with a skid loader for speed. And at least in my area....the market is flooded with people that own skidloaders and Harley rakes and rockhouns and all sorts of other grading attachments. Flooded so much that it drives the cost down because it's very competitive. For that reason.....I don't get too much into landscape work.

Mowing....some odd driveway jobs, and backhoe stuff are about it

Sounds like you’ve already got a solid setup for making money with your tractor. Have you thought about adding a post hole digger or a land leveler for the gravel driveways? I’ve heard both can be useful for bringing in more jobs. If you’re still looking into how to make money from home, there are always other ways to boost income outside of the equipment, too.
