Well, The question in the title kind of sums it up! Lets dig deeper.....

Say you have a full size truck and regardless if you live in the country or suburbia, your truck seems tight in your garage! I am looking for those folks who have trucks that manage to park in the garage! What size door will fit that 3500 chevy, or the 350 ford? I know that situations change when you own a dual rear wheel truck. However, it seems that garages are shrinking and trucks can't fit in there. What are your thoughts, suggestions? Do you live in a house that you gotta park it outside, or were forced to build a barn/shop to park your vehicle? I am thinking that (9' overhead and 8' wide "will fit" a full size truck? Is this too small....Or? 🤔

Pic is for reference:

Call me paranoid but I wouldn't have an attached garage. If something goes wrong and your truck goes up in smoke you also lose your house.

Those are my thoughts as well; the missus disagrees with me, but we don't have to worry about that any time soon.

I wouldn't be comfortable with the idea.

We have a detached garage with duo 8x8 doors. Old garage that's 24x24. Our f350 barely fits. Doesn't help with all the crap I have.

I wouldn't mind atleast a 1 car attached garage for the car though

My doors are almost 10' wide, really closer to 9 1/2' since they are sliding by pass doors. Anyway, the Tundra will just fit, does better with the mirrors folded in but then I cannot see and the K3500 GMC flatbed has just barely 2" on each side when I pull it in. With either truck I feel like I am threading a needle every time I pull one out or in.

Back in 2023, Allstate and State Farm, possibly others changed their coverage polices. Attached garages with EV charging would now double the rates. This is from to many homes in their option burning down due to an EV thermo event.

And their polices state a certain distance away for the detached garage(s) or outbuildings too.

This owner was able to literally hitch up and drag out the EV from the garage with his 4x4 GMC truck. Saved much of the garage and home.

Recall GM telling Bolt owners to park 50FT or more from the homes and garages.

The home owners were not home.

This Kona EV burned the roof right off the garage by a massive explosion.

I'm not worried about a ICE vehicle, those EVs are just thermo events waiting to happen.

3 children died in this house fire as their bedrooms were over the garage. The EV self ignited.

Would you own an EV or a Hybrid parked in an attached garage now ???

Find me a seasoned firefighter who owns an EV. It's very rare. These emergency responders will stand down knowing there is an EV in the garage. Best to let it all burn totally down.

And like GM said, don't park it so close to a building structure.

I have always had under house, or attached to house via breezeway, garages, and never thought anymore about a fire there than in the house itself. Only own ICE vehicles. No one is forcing me into an EV as of late...
