Something I prefer to do anywhere I T off of a main line like that is use a Threaded reducer bushing and come out of that with a 12" Sch 80 nipple to my threaded valve. I have seen the small pipe snap off many times when it is Teed in like you have it, you will then have to cut and splice in the main to fix it. If you use threaded fittings you can unscrew them and repair it allot quicker.
