Yesterday afternoon I finished the install and attached the hoe to the 2210. See photos (more on the way). Attaching the hydraulic hoses to the tractor was a bit cumbersome, due to the confined space and no swing area for hand tools. Everything fit nicely and did not leak. Attaching the hoe is pretty straight forward. After attaching the hydraulic hoses, the stabilizers and boom are used to position and lift the hoe to the four point mount on the tractor. Woods even filled the hoe cylinders with hydrualic fluid so no additional oil was needed for the transaxle. I can't wait til the spring thaw /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Great install but I've decided to have the dealer do the install for me on the BX2230. Between time limitations and travel I didn't think I'd be able to get it done before summer. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif It does look fine on the 2210 however.

JDFANATIC,
It works great! (well in the garage anyway). Just at engine idle the cylinders move suprising quick. The swing cylinder has an internal cushion feature toward end of swing to slow the boom before it hits the stops. Certainly needed for the inexperienced user I'll be. The controls are precise, with a float position for the boom. It will take some practice to master the controls but it will sure be fun learning! I have not yet scheduled a "field test" since the ground is still frozen. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif After that first field test I'll post an update with photos.

PDe,

Thanks for the encouragement -- that's all I'll need! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Have you gotten to move outside the garage; how has the balance of the tractor changed? Also what about parking height; how different in relationship to the ROPS is it? Thanks for all the posts/pics, they really are appreciated. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Man, that's a nice feature, although it's the boom comming up at you and hitting the stops that's the real problem, not the swing.

Can you get any pictures of the whole tractor? Say, sitting outside?

I plan to post some whole tractor photos in a few weeks. Hopefully the weather will be more cooperative then... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

PDe,

your images have been very informative, if numerous! I noted on one that it answered a very important question for me; where to get supply and return pressure for a backhoe on the 2210 since the SCV valve hogs what was available from what I could see.

On one of your pictures, one port is clearly available on top of the SCV housing, but the other, seemingly on the left side of the case is not so obvious. Can you provide a picture of where the other hydraulic connection goes? Do you know which is supply and the other return to tank?

BTW, is the Woods much more expensive than the Wallenstein BX-600 (someone here quoted about 5K$ US funds with sub-frame). Clearly it is superior in most respects, and the sub-frame is more carefully designed and clever. The wallenstein sub-frame is un-inspired.

Much appreciated.

Cheers

sdowell,

Photo 1 of 3 attached. The second port is just left of the port seen in the earlier posted photo (not sure which is supply and return). Just a tick north of four for the bh, sub-frame, mounting kit, hoses, all hardware, the seat, delivery and tax. More photos coming when the initial dig takes place.

Thank you for the connection pics. I've decided to get a Woods too, despite everyone saying it's a bad idea. Woods' got the best sub-frame; it stays on as opposed to others, and does not intefere with the mower or CAT 1. It also spreads the forces, and the seat is so close to the original seat that I'm thinking of not using it, building a lockable lazy susan on the JD seat so I can spin it around. If it does not work out in the end, I can always sell it; they're going like hot cakes up here. Almost 6000 $ CDN.

Please do get us a report of how well it works with yours!

PDe and sdowell,

Please keep us updated as you use your BH's and give us your unbiased comments. As for you, the nay-sayer's, I have already contacted more than one 2210BH user and have heard of no problems. In fact the 2210 has been a treacherous digger at all accounts. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I agree , thanks for all the great info on your purchase and view so far. I have a 4110 and have been looking at all the options for a backhoe. So far it is between this and the JD46 hoe for the 4110. The price I was quoted at my local JD dealer for the 46 hoe is @ 7,000 installed. They will not let customers install it , I think this is a dealer ship policy. It appears that the woods hoe is much less money and I would like to have the option of doing the install myself. Always a good idea to get a feel for the unit while doing the install. I have a concern about the seat setup and whether I have to keep swaping seats back and forth between the tractor and the hoe , or if it is a single seat setup and it flips back and forth. I can only again the performance of the woods hoe on the 4110 based on your first impressions in response on the 2110. Look forward to hearing how it works out. Looks like you are enjoying the whole process ,which is always half the fun .... Good luck with it
