Snow Equipment Owning/Operating Ariens AX Engines

Does anyone have first hand experience with ariens AX engines by LCT? I've found some good and some bad things about them on the net. Ariens has been using them for 5 years now.

My engine has a light surge every 8 seconds. Any idea what that could be?

I don't have or know of those engines. It sounds like a carb problem and the governer is trying to keep it running.

The snow blower I use at work surged from time to time. I started using only premium gasoline and the problem seems to be gone.
