Well, take a peek at the attachment. I have been using Netscape 7.1 for a while now. If I am on for a small length of time Netscape usually goes all weird on me. As you can see, it gets this weird black outline around everything. Also, the URL box gets this weird gray shading. If I click a tab it usually will not do anything. Sometimes the screen will go white. Also, if I try to click Start, nothing happens. Only until I close Netscape will things go back to normal. Then I re-open Netscape and things seem to be fine there again, too. Of course I lose whatever link I was visiting and have to hunt for it again. This is getting frustrating. Any suggestions?

I would probably reinstall Netscape.

I haven't even had Netscape for very long. Only a couple months. Could it have become corrupt that fast?

I haven't tried Firefox yet. I did research it, though. I was going to wait until they realease the real version instead of the preview version. You wouldn't happen to know when the real version of Firefox will be released, do you? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Looks like a memory leak to me. Try using Internet Explorer -- I never have any problems with it.

I wouldn't worry too much about Firefox being in prerelease... I have far less trouble with it "not ready for primetime" than Bill's stuff that is...

JayC, FireFox 0.8 is a solid full release. I've been using for months. FireFox .9 was the last beta I am aware of.....I'll have to check and see were it's at....so far...You will on occasion find IE only sites that can be a pain but a plug in (Extension) called User Agent Switcher .4 helps with that... Ever since AOL bought Netscape has gone thru some ruff upgrades....
I gave up on it after AOL's second reslease of Netscape.....

Hi
I agree with you I have never had a problem with IE but i have with AOL and anything connected with AOL. I never understood why people are so down on microsoft and their products.

I am still debating whether to download Firefox or not. It'd be my luck I download version .9 and then they release the "post preview" version. I really like some features of Netscape and I think Firefox has most of them (tabbed browsing, pop-up killer, etc.). Does Firefox have an image resizer like Netscape (automatically resizes an image too big for the screen)? Do you know of features that Netscape has but Firefox doesn't?

Has anyone else tried the Mozilla browser (not Firefox)? How is that?

Yes, Firefox will resize large images down to fit.

Well, I downloaded Firefox yesterday. It was a nice browser. Notice I said was. I couldn't keep using it because there were too many little bugs that were quite annoying. The Firefox graphic would not show up on the task button on the taskbar, with a theme the screen would start shaking if I minimized and reloaded, when downloading something and the screensaver come on it would mess up the download, the bookmark tool bar showed nothing and when I would go to click "New Folder" nothing would happen. I even redownloaded and tried a reinstall to no avail. Overrall, the whole browser was just too bland for my tastes and there weren't too many themes I liked. The options were kind of sparse, too. I noticed Netscape had a new version out (7.2) so I downloaded it today. I like it a lot. I had 7.1 before that and I like the differenences. I think I will continue to use Netscape. I hope that 7.2 doesn't have that irritating quirk that made me post the initial thread. It doesn't affect me 70% of the time, anyway. I may download Firefox again in the future if Mozilla releases a much more polished version. Thanks for all the help. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

When I first got Internet service (dialup), my ISP at that time recommended Netscape and even provided it. But after Netscape had a couple of "upgrades", it got to be too erratic and too much trouble and I changed to IE and have stayed with it.

I've never really had a problem with IE either, except once. Some of you may remember my thread from a couple months ago when I got some virus and it messed everything up. I think because of IE it was able to slip through because it was designed for it. But, before I lay the blame completely on IE I must also say that at the time I was using AVG Anti-Virus. The combo of those two, but most likely AVG, made it easy for the virus to slip through. Norton would not have let that slip through. I am now using Norton Anti-Virus 2004 and have no problems. I could go back to IE, but I have REALLY came to love the features of Netscape over IE now. Maybe if Microsoft releases a new version of IE and includes a lot of the features found in Netscape I might go back.

The only problem i have with firefox is that a lot of webpages made for ie don't look right on it. I have been using slimbrowser,Avant, and opera a lot more lately. They are all quite a bit faster than ie. Slimbrowser is a really nice browser that you don't hear much about. I have 10 browsers on my puter and have tried them all.
