Are there enough used CUTs out there?

Under 10 years old, they arent worth selling or buying used, to close to new price, hold value well yes, but frankly I dont think a lot of them sell used and people end up trading them in. Plus when you look at cost and such and the fact they just dont break all the time, just not an item to buy new all the time

In '06 when I was looking hard, everything I could find was in the upper teens to 20's for used, 2-3 states away or from the 1970's. For the size, price and options that I needed, it was a no brainer that I had to go grey market. Lots of opinions on that I made a bad choice and that the resale value is terrible. 900 hours later I have absolutely no regrets, other than I should've bought TWO at that price! Resale value is not even a thought as I won't sell it until I'm too old to take care of the place, and hopefully by then it won't owe me, I'll owe it. For what I paid for it and all the attachments 13 years ago, I might already be there.

when we went to sell our almost new L2501 to move up to an L3901, it sold in 2 days on Craigslist for the ask price and we must have had 20 phone calls on it.

Same around here, if it痴 under 10 years old your better off buying new with a warranty for the most part and whatever buying incentives they are offering.
Why buy a 6 year old scut for 12k when a new one is 15k(just a example).

Jim.

Agreed in North Texas - I ended up buying new for this exact reason.

It is an exploding market. Only time will tell what happens. Especially with such dark financial clouds on the horizon. My, guess, they will become abundantly plentifull at firesale prices, when the kucca hits the fan.

Funny, it seemed like yesterday, that our local Deere dealer was distressed because they had no compact offering with a Cab like Kubota had and had to go after market which lost them sales

My philosophy on it selling in two days, and 20 calls: You sold too cheap!

"Dark financial clouds on the horizon"?
I think very distant horizon,.... but they are always out there somewhere.
Will "clown boy" be gone on the 21st of next month?

Jim.

Same here. When I bought my Kubota a few weeks ago, I looked used but why pay new prices for used equipment? I actually saw asking prices for tractors that were two or more years old with several hundred hours that were priced higher than I had been quoted for a new tractor. Granted these were asking prices.

In 2008, I bought a used Mahindra with several implements and a trailer for a great deal but times were a bit different then. Today and several hundred hours later I can make money on that tractor if I decide to sell it.
