Equipment has never been more capable than it is now. Be it a tractor, utv, snowmobile, tractor, motorcycle, trucks, chainsaws, boats, PWC, etc.....whatever. All that capability brings a price and it is high. If you don't want the latest and greatest toys, buy something old that most people don't want. There are people buying this stuff........until they don't.

My neighbor bought a new Kioti CUT a few years ago. It sure looks like a nice machine and he came over to my place to move some dirt for me because he wanted to and my Yanmar had a little problem which has been fixed. It did a great job. I asked him what he paid and he hemmed and hawed so I let it drop. He is much younger than me and has a great job working for Boeing, so even if he is making payments I'm sure it isn't a hardship for him. But just the way he responded to me when I asked about the price leads me to believe it was quite high and he didn't want to brag about how much he spent on the thing. It's funny, even though he has his tractor when he needed some holes drilled for posts he quickly accepted my offer to drill them with my post hole digger. I don't know if his 3 point hitch would work with my PHD, his tractor seems so low to the ground. Anyway, even though I could afford it in my old age I still would not be able to convince myself to spend the kind of money a new CUT costs. My 45 year old tractor works great for me and I'm sure glad there was a used tractor for sale available close by when I needed it. New tractor prices just scare me.

Yes, the payments are the same
as a car payment. But my newer tractor may be the last one I buy because they last so long. On the other hand, I’ll probably go through several more vehicles before I give up driving.

To my way of thinking, it's insane for a first time non-business tractor buyer to even consider buying new. They shouldn't be taking a loan out for any machine unless it's going to pay for itself.

Many times a good used tractor isn’t far off a new tractor with 0% financing.
Back in 2021 I bought a new MX5400 for 30K. A good used one would have cost about $20-25k

It's like Yogi Berra said, "no one goes there any more, it's too crowded."

One manufacturer can price itself out of the market by pricing their product higher than other manufacturers, and then nobody buys their product. But all of them can't do that. That's just the new market price.

I had a grey market 33 hp tractor that finally wore out and needed a complete overhaul plus all new tires.

In 2021 I bought new, I planed to finance but, I thought the mandatory insurance plus interest was a deal breaker so I paid cash, after all I'm retired and it's my kids money and they really don't need it.

When I purchased a new pickup in 1977 the vehicle
prices were double. That's a 2500 to 1500. 77 Dodge
318 auto 24 mpg chevy guys didn't even come close
to the mileage that I was getting
