Afternoon Eddie,
See what happens when you start saying things like how pretty the snow is up our way ! We send some down to you ! ;) The kids look like they are havin a ball, especially the big one in the blue sweat shirt ! ;)

Heck, In 26 years, I've NEVER SEEN snow at my place although I'm not there all the time. Flurries, ice, but no accumulative snow. It was a scramble to try to save all my plants. Our last freeze is supposed to be mid march. I measured 3" on top of fence rails. The difference with snow here is it was all gone by 11AM sunday.

I always wished it would snow, just not in April.

Scotty,

Steph just asked me yesterday "how long will it take to drive to Vermont?"

We've never been, but have enjoyed your pics and that part of the country really is an area we'd love to see.

You guys made me curious, so I had to look back at some of my old records. We spent the night of 10/18/91 in an RV park in Shelburne, VT, went on to Waterford and Stowe the next day, then on to New Hampshire. It was a pretty fast trip in the motorhome, taking Margaret's parents from West Virginia to see New England. Some mighty pretty country, but we were just a little late for the brightest leaves turning. In fact, that late, the foliage was actually brighter down in Virginia and West Virginia.

Bird you were darn close to snow that late in October. Actually it normally doesn't hit us until late November and December.

Mornin Bird,
Well if I ever RV with Kathleen, I will certainly keep a log like you did, what a great idea ! No way I could remember what happened 15 years ago ! ;) Senior moments !!!

About the foliage, in our local, usually the best is the first week of October up to about October 10th, its usually down hill after that ! :)

Scotty, I never kept a diary, journal, log, or whatever you want to call it until I retired from the police department and we started traveling full time. There have been several books written on full time RVing and I entertained some thoughts of writing one myself. The book never got started, but I do still have the daily log on my computer.:D

For you Texans,
I live in NY, but in the late '70's or possibly early '80's I distinctly remember a court case going on where someone in TX had been getting kickbacks for buying snow removal equipment. Obviously this was not needed. However, during the trial, there was a snowstorm that laid down a few inches, and of course the lawyer for the defense jumped right on that. "Your Honor, please look out the window. Obviously my client was just being proactive......" ;-)
I never heard about the outcome. I suppose if they had good evidence of the actual kickbacks that he was toast anyway.

Good news is my BIL says the garden is still ok. The temp never got below about 36. I'm going up this weekend to make sure.

About a week ago there was some pictures of corn about 4 to 5 inches tall covered with snow on our local news. It was in Texas but I did not catch where in Texas.

Cool rattler! If they put that picture on the cover of the Dallas Morning News, I'd bet you there would be a lot less people stopping on the side of the road and wading up into the bluebonnets to take pictures.

Darn those things are big! Nothing like that around here and I will take our snow, rain, mud, and black flies any day.
