Most are coming from China. the ones that say "ship from the USA" are in portside warehouses. Not sure how they get away with that.Aren't the orange holzforma ones sold on the internet in the US? If they must be red to be in compliance, how can they be sold in the US on amazon or other internet outlets
I have not found a rule or law that says a private individual has to store gasoline in any particular color container. The OSHA requirements are for workplaces. They have no authority over private activities on private property. So strangely enough, it might be legal for me to use one of the Husqvarna fuel cans on my property, or even when helping out a friend, but it would likely be a violation for a logger or landscaper I hired to use one.
I do know that gas stations are not supposed to allow you to fill anything other than an approved container (which includes OSHA approval, since the gas station is a work place.) So in theory, you should be bringing a legal OSHA/DOT approved fuel can to the station to fill, and then transfer it into another container when you get home. I've never seen a gas station actually enforce this. It's rare, but I've seen people filling old gallon plastic milk jugs, and even once a 5 gallon plastic bucket with no lid.
