im using 80 90wt oil... Look at these pics and tell me where is the over flow nut to show me when it is full? I dont see one in the back or the sides.
You fill it up and there should be a over flow?? where oil comes out when it is full.. There is no stick on the nut that comes out to put oil in??
Is one of the side middle nuts that holds the back on?? Take that off and oil comes out that looks like the middle to me??????????????????

The top center two-piece nut/cap is the fill. Designed so will overflow if necessary. You may not have a specific dipstick, manual may specify a recommended fill level. If too full it will just overflow when hot which isn't that big a deal. Looks like if you fill to bottom lip of the hole you'd still have a space for expansion, without a manual that's what I would do.

ok so inthe bottom picture, the nut in the center is the over flow.
As I put in my post I thought that had to be it...
Don't have a manual on this cutter...
Tks for the input..

The overflow is part of the cap on the fill nut - center top of top photo. The silver one.

Many years ago I worked with an old mechanic. He would always tell me when checking and filling differentials or gear boxes, measure by sticking your little finger down in the fill hole. You would go to the first joint of your little finger. If you touched oil the differential was full.

Watch out with the finger in the filler hole though. Most things work by fill till it runs out. Unfortunately some gear boxes require another spec., what ever they came up with. Too bad nobody ever thought to keep it simple and leave it that way.

hard to tell if that box ever had a level check plug or not. most that do, it is lower on level with the input shaft area.

make sure that loose cap on that vented plug is really venting.. though it surely looks like it is due to the oil contamination everywhere. :)

Agree...most boxes would be filled only to the half full mark about where the input shaft enters.

My opinion, for what that's worth, is that the oil level only needs to be to the center of the PTO shaft. The spinning shaft will splash oil everything in there.

If there's a "oil level" plug I was taught like Dozernut, fill til you can reach it with your fingertip. Automotive manufacturers will tell you if you fill your rear/front axle til it runs out the hole when cold, it's overfull.

I took the middle side nut out, nothing came out.. The nut thread had big wadd of tape at the end of it...
I ran the cutter and grease comes out the top silver nut?????
I read the grease heats up and rises ??
